I'm really gasing for a Honey Bee and/or a BBOD. I was curious if these would sound good with My amp. What amps Do You BJF owners play through? My amp is as I've mentioned before a Peavey Delta Blues. I might get a good Blackface type of amp soon.

Mostly thru various solid state amps. And I love it on any of 'em!
I let my little tube amp (seldom used) get all warmed up and it responded so sweetly to bends and stuff, I'll go off when I finally try a killer tube amp. You can do no wrong with that great sound. So I imagine BBOD would make us instant rock stars with some good tube driven tone behind it! |

i just got a honey bee and a purple pink fuzz, and tried em for the first time tonight. i'm amazed at how dynamic and "hi-fi" these pedals sound.
chords ring out, notes jump as if launched from a catapult, and overall, they sound incredibly good. i also got a Tim, and while it sounds really good too, there's no comparison with the open sound of the BJF pedals. can't wait to get more of em. amps: Ampeg V4 Ampeg V2 (both the "V" heads are used with either a 2x12 with Altec 417's or a 2x12 with Harry Joyce speakers) Ampeg G12 (1x12 combo with Altec 417) Guitars: SG Jr. Les Paul w/ P90's Hagstrom 1 |

I really want to support Ted but $269.00 for an OD pedal is hard to swallow. And ebay isn't exactly flooded with BJF pedals. Guess if I want one (or 2) I'll have to bite the bullet and buy a new one.

i have 6 BJF peds and play through either a twin reverb RI or a JCM800 50w head and quad. i prefer them through the twin but they are great through the marshall as well.

BBOD and DRD through a Blackfaced '71 Bandmaster Reverb and an Alessandro Rottweiler, both 6L6 amps. Both sound great through either amp.

Yes, the BJF stuff is expensive. But the honey bee is truly worth it. I've had a ton of stuff and nothing is like the HB for it's dynamics and wonderful tone. It really is an amp in a pedal.
I use it through: vox ac30hw and ac15, a '68 bassman and '66 vibrochamp with all kinds of guitars and it sounds awesome with everything. Right now one of my favorite combos is my LP deluxe, the bassman and the HB, soooo smooth and lush but complex at the same time. My next bjf will probably be the pink purple fuzz, or maybe the little red trebler, or maybe the blueberry bass OD...too much good stuff. apolitical statement |

I have seven BJF pedals. Lately I have been gigging through either a BF Twin or DR with very good results, depending on the gig and how much clean headroom is needed for the stage/venue. The BJF pedals are the best I have found for dynamics and stacking.

guittguy1:
that's exactly the way i felt. i couldn't justify and/or get over the "cost hump," so i kept buying other pedals off of evil bay or from other forums/forum members, or from vendors, and more often than not, they ended up back on the evil bay or the for-sale boards. and to be honest, even with all the great reviews and posts about Bjorn's pedals, i still was reluctant. then one day a few weeks back i was at my practice space going through my bin o'pedals and realized how many i actually had that i never use. and how much i've spent. and then i realized that it was time to spend the money once and enjoy many times. and that's exactly what the PPF and HoneyBee did for me. sure, i've only used them both last night for the first time, and not even within a band context, and yes, i'm sure there will be a honeymoon period too. but, i can think of no other pedals i've bought which sounded as good, as soon as i plugged em in, and the range of sounds available as i started tweaking the dials. it was like when i got my first Ampeg Reverberocket 2. it just sounded right to my ears, and made me not only want to play, but play better. just my 2c. jon |

quote: Hope you like the PF, it's a sweet pedal. Well, the HB for leads, i guess it depends on what you're looking for. It's an uncompressed sound, so you won't get very long sustainy sing-songy leads. No santana stuff here by itself. Playing a guitar with humbuckers really helps in that dept if it matters to you. The HB is so sensitive to all that stuff just like a good tube amp (pickups, pick attack). I do use it for melody lines and some leads/filler but if you're looking for raging leads this probably isn't the best choice. We have the tourbox, plug it in apolitical statement |

no, it would only be for lighter leads (i have screaming covered for the most part), so i think it may work. i'll see if i can wrangle dan's away from him for a few minutes.
also considering the CAF. i'll have to try that one again before the box moves on to its next destination... |

i own the DRD, BBOD and HB. i run them with a Tele and a LP Specail w/ P90's thru an Orange AD30-TC and an AD15/12. Both amps run EL84's. Both amps LOVE the Honey Bee. Both amps HATE the BBOD. i think the Honey Bee is a must-try for players of EL84 based amps. the BBOD was really designed for use with Fender amps. i found this out first hand thanks to ToneDog and his amazing Bandmaster (not to mention some pretty sick chops). We listened to his DRD and BBOD side by side between his fender and my AD15 and it was apparent that they were not fans of the UK

Yeah, i think you'll like it. It also is stack-into-able. It's great.
I dug the CAF alot, but I think my next bjf will probably be either the pink purple or the blueberry. If I ditch my KoT, I'd have it covered. That's a tough one though. Not sure I can do it... apolitical statement |

let me know if you wish to liberate your peachfuzz when the mayo comes in. i'll be trying it out tomorrow...
not sure if i want something tubescreamerish or bluesdrivery in that potential HB spot or not. many thoughts... saving money is a concern and the keeley sparkle drive is doing a good job for the time being. however, i'm fairly certain the HB would love my mazerati as much as it loves your amps and dan's, so my curiosity is piqued, especially on how it would stack with the TIM. how do you like the peachfuzz in front of it? |

steve,
you can babysit the HB for a time if you'd like. i'm sure you'd dig it with the maz. you love a good dark rock tone and this has it by the keg. its also got the BJF magic. ________________ songwriter first |

quote: That bandmaster is a pretty cool amp, no doubt. It sounds great clean all by itself but it also loves pretty much every pedal I've put in front of it. Some amps are very receptive to pedals and this appears to be one of them. And thank you so much for the nice compliment, Dan. We were all busy checking out the peds and didn't have any real opportunity to jam a little, but I would have loved it if we could have done some of that. I would have liked it if you guys could have showed me some of the music you play and the tones you go for to do it. I'm kind of limited in my musical exposures these days and that would have been a nice and very welcome opportunity for me to check out something new. I'm sorry we didn't get to take advantage of the time we had together to do some of that. But we are all fairly close to one another and could easily arrange to get together again one day very soon. I'm sure we all have enough cool gear to bring that it would still be a gear-fest of sorts! For example, the Alessandro Rottweiler and G&L ASAT I own never even saw the light of day and I'm pretty sure you guys would get a kick out of those too! Ok, one more question. How does the HB compare gain wise to say, a TubeScreamer. Just trying to get an idea how much od it will produce.
