OK, I am looking for a good boost-type pedal for my set up. First, here's my signal chain:

1. Sun Face NKT
2. EVH Phase 90
3. [BOOST PEDAL NEEDED]
4. Blue Collar
5. Distortion Pro
6. Retro Sonic Chorus
7. Line 6 DL4
8. Holy Grail
9. VL Tremolo
10. Bassman LTD

Specifically, I'm looking for a boost pedal that would be good for all 3 of the following:

(a) I run the Bassman at a clean setting. As we know, a fuzz face into a clean amp is not the ultimate thing. So, I need a pedal that can be stacked with the Sun Face. The existing gain pedals I have (Blue Collar and DP-1) are set in such a way that the fuzz sounds too muddy when used in connection with them.

(b) I want a boost pedal that I can use to boost up the gain of the Blue Collar, without altering the BC's tone.

(c) I want a boost pedal that will give me a nice break-up sound on its own.

What do you suggest as a good pedal to meet all these needs? Is the Fulltone Fat Boost a good choice? What about the MJM RM Boost? Any others?

RD

RC Booster will meet those requirements.

RC Booster, and the Z Vex SHO would both be good choices.

The Analogman KoT will do it too. You have the option of a pure (nearly) uncompressed clean boost or a boost with hair, you choose.

I think the Fulltone Fat Boost stays too clean, doesn't really have any breakup if I remember correctly. You might consider the Homebrew Germania, very cool pedal for boosting an already overdriven amp or adding a little bit of gain. My other suggestion is the Time Machine Boost, that one gets a lot of good reviews too.

all good suggestions...
also the Pharoah Class A boost, it has a tone knob and a dirt knob that is really good into another drive

ZVex SuperDuper 2 n 1! The master channel has become my sole source of OD and the boost channel is used for solos and bumping the Fuzz signal.
