We haven't done one of these in awhile.

http://forums.musictoyz.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/40660660...551061892#2551061892

Since there are some newbies, I thought an updated list would be good.

Still haven't posted any gear PIX. I will. Really.

Pretty boring guy, actually. I don't really have any hobbies. I basically eat, sleep, and breathe guitar. I am still working on my instructional DVD releases. Hopefully, I'll have an actual product soon. All the little details are killing me! But soon, I think it'll all be ready to go.

Gear listed in my profile.

Hi there!

J.J. Westfield. Don't post much anymore but stop in from time to time to see what's on people's minds.

Not married but in a relationship. In a band called Order 66 (see avatar). Our musicnoyz SITE! And become our friend on our MYSPACE SITE!

Love most kinds of music barring modern country and gansta rap (listen to band).

I've played guitar since I was 12 and am now 26. I should be far better than I am but improvement comes slowly for me.

My main guitar is an American Tele with a humbucker in the neck position. My amp is a Hodrod Deville 4x10 with Rajun Cajuns.

Effects: Keeley Sparkle Drive, Emma ReezaFratZitz, Keeley TR-2, Boss Super Chorus, Line 6 Verbzilla, Line 6 DL-4, Zvex SHO.

Love travelling, shooting my Glock, sushi, and bashing Bush. I'll kick your ass in MarioKart too. Smile

David Aaron Houston

you'll find me around the internet as aaronblues, normally

27 married, with one son named Eddie

By day ... wine/beer/liquor retail guy.... "the beer guy" whenever i'm seen about town.

self taught amateur rythym player in the vein of Stone Gossard, Elliott Smith Johnny Marr, Neil Young. Nick McCabe is a big influence.

started at eleven/twelve, have been in about ten bands roughly, wide variation on styles, main emphasis on about five projects throughout. Normal role is main support guy for Head Writer/ composer. Always Original Music. its all about creating, for better or worse.

Have been thru lots of shit gear, some which i liked anywho, but am currently trying to piece together a pedal collection after all my fx were stolen about three years ago. This time i want to have more... quality? or something....

Main guitars:

Fender American Strat
Epiphone LP Standard (needing new p/u)
Samick 335 style (needs p 90's)
couple junk guitars (at least one i want to set up for open tune slide work)

Amps:

Hiwatt 50 watt thru noname 2/12 (celestion Greens)
Vox AC15CC (new speaker needed ?)
Fender Deluxe Reverb 65RI

older amps i miss ...
Fender Vibrolux silverface
Lab series 9 ( i think? Solid State, but tremendously good amp)

Would really love something like a BadCat or the like, which i could get some gain tones out of. I've never owned a usable tube gain channel. Ever!

Current Fx
a few MXR's
EB volume
Dunlop Fuzz Face
Boss DD-6
EH Holy Grail

Shopping for (eventually)
Zvex SuperDuper
Zvex Box of Rock
menatone Red Snapper or Foxy Brown
Hotcake
Analog delay ..Memory Man or alternative
Fulltone Ocd (thanks to Carl Wink)
A vibe
and definitely a Treble boost
maybe MG Alien Boost

cheers!

I'm 40 or so, happily married to Dee, 2 children that are both gifted musicians and singers, 1 cat named "Cat". My son runs a Les Paul thru a Dr.Z, my daughter is using an Epi SG Custom thru an old tuck & roll amp. The cat shows no interest & I think is still bitter about being named "Cat".

I have a complete weakness for guitars with a single bridge pickup,(specifically Gibson Juniors), anything made by Tony Zemaitis & I'm a 1st class gear whore, (a trait I apparently passed on to my children).

I've spent the last 13 years performing instrument repairs for the local music stores/schools, building custom instruments & refining my engraving/inlay skills.

23 years in various rock & blues bands and still going, I prefer 60's & 70's rock & I play quite a bit of slide.

About 24 guitars: all variations of Les Pauls, Juniors, Esquires, Firebirds, and several that I made for myself. A few lap steels, mandolins & a banjo,(I don't know why), sprinkled in for flavor.

Like most, I have an ever-evolving pedalboard. I'm always on the lookout for the ideal drive/fuzz pedal & I have a couple of time-tested favorites: Pedalworx McFuzz & a Menatone WMB. Lately I've been enjoying the new Indyguitarist Plexi Drive. I'm considering pulling the trigger on a Deja-Vibe.

Amps: Mesa Boogie 50 Caliber+ head, old Mesa 4x12 half-back cab, newer 2x12 vertical closed back cab w/ Cel 30's, tweed Fender '59 Bassman RI, old tuck-and-roll Kustom, Fender Hot Rod Deluxe w/ Tone Tubby 12".

Joe Herrold
23 unmarried (though in a serious relationship)
Live in LA/From Indiana/Going to El Salvador

Just graduated from USC with a BS in Biological Sciences and International Relations. I did neuroscience research all four years to help pay the bills. Worked construction before that to pay for guitar stuff. Basically, I had all my money saved up for college, then got full scholarship and spent a good chunk of my savings on guitar gear. I also chose not to drink in college because that would take away from my guitar fund. Seriously.

I'm moving to El Salvador next month with my girlfriend to set up a language/cultural immersion program for USC's medical school. After a year, I'll come back and I will be attending USC's Keck School of Medicine.

Started on piano(6yo), then moved to drums/percussion/mallets (11yo), and picked up bass and guitar around the same time (11yo). I've been playing in bands since I was 13--even made an album (that sucks Wink). Joined a band when I moved to LA for college, played a few few gigs at places like the Knitting Factory, Roxy, etc... Nothing really came from that and I had to prioritize school.

Influences: Hendrix, Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, RHCP, Mars Volta, Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, Sco, Charlie Hunter, Dream Theater, Freak Kitchen, Ron Thal, Albert King

Hobbies: Guitar, Music, Hockey, running, dogs, video games. Being from a cornfield (Indiana), when I came out to LA I wanted to do EVERYTHING. So I've dabbled in and am varying degrees of proficient at: surfing, rock climbing, backpacking, mountain biking, etc...

39 years old.

I originally hail from norther Virginia (close to Washington D.C.). I moved to the Seattle, WA area while working for Boeing. If I have my way I'll be here for the rest of my days.

My wife and I have been happily married for 11 years now and we're still madly in love! Smile

I am also the proud father of a wonderful 10 year old boy!

I currently work as a Field Service Technician in the Telecommunications industry. It pays the bills. Smile I'm an IT Management type with no professional home at the moment.

My interests include: my family, music, motorcycles, billiards, firearms & archery (target only - not a hunter).

I have been playing guitar for about 26 years now. I also play bass (11 years), and clarinet (4 years). I'm trying to learn to play the saxaphone (struggling with this one for 3 years now). I also sing (though I try not to do this to my friends Big Grin). I am self-taught and play by ear. I am definitely a hobbyist - I haven't gigged regularly in almost 15 years. I play because love music! We recently took ownership of a piano and both my wife and son are learning to play. I'm a complete hack on the piano but I really enjoy noodling on it. Smile My son is also beginning to show an interest in guitar. Sweet!

Guitar influences: Eric Clapton, George Harrison, David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Alex Lifeson, Robin Trower, Pat Travers, Larry Carlton, Steve Lukather, Gary Moore, Buck Dharma, Frank Zappa, Joe Walsh, others.

Bass influences: Paul McCartney, James Jamerson, Timothy B. Schmidt, Jack Bruce, Noel Redding, James Dewar, Chuck Rainey, others.

Garrett Brogden

30 years old

Born in VA Beach. Raised near Charlottesville since age 5. Moved to East Tenn in Sept '05. Plan on moving back to VA in the next 2 years, cause I hate it here.

I dropped out of college after 6 whole weeks. Not for me. Went to flight school instead, became a pilot. Haven't really done much w/ it. Plan on switching over to helos to fly either EMS or law enforcement in the next 5-10 years.

I currently own a construction company. I/We specialize in cabinets/countertops and finish carpentry. I do mostly high end homes, the biggest so far being 33,000 ft2 and the most expensive one being $18 million. I've seen some pretty ridiculous stuff: elevators, towers, private airstrips/helipads/marinas in the backyard, $750K+ garages, vaults, etc. I could go on for days..... I'm also a certified installer for Lowe's for the eastern half of TN.

A few things you probably don't know about me (and probably won't believe).....I used to be a youth minister.......My great uncle was the CFO of Reebok......Elvis used to cut my great grandmothers grass. Was a friend of my dad's family until he died...... Andy Griffith used to be a cousin by marriage.....I'm working on starting my own guitar amp line. It's been on the backburner for a few years. I'm finally getting around to it. Hoping to have things ready by Christmas. Hopefully

On to the good stuff:
Was forced to play piano for years as a kid, hated it, wish I had stuck w/ it now. I got my first acoustic guitar at 15, never ever touched it. I got my first bass when I was 21 or 22 and then my first electric guitar (squire strat, still have it) about 6 months later. Was in a band before I could even play. Not that I can now. Our bass player showed me power chords and it was all downhill from there. That's also pretty much where I stopped learning. Smile Despite what Dave Alexander says about his playing, I am w/o a doubt the biggest hack around here on guitar. There was a time when I was definitely pretty decent, maybe even good, but that's when I was playing 4-5 nights a week. That was also before arthritis kicked my ass.

My biggest guitar heroes are (in no particular order):

Doyle Bramhall II
Warren Haynes
Gibb Droll
Mike McCready
David Gilmour
Dean DeLeo
Slash
The Edge
Chuck Garvey
Al Schnier

Musically, I like anything that has guitars in it. I don't listen to any country, except for Junior Brown and Johhny Cash. My Top 25 on my ipod includes:

moe.
Further Seems Forever
Clutch
DB2
A Denver Mile (Avengerjimmie's band, my fav new band at the moment)
mewithoutyou
Mogwai
Uncle Tupelo
Seemless
Coldplay

The amps:

1966 Pro Reverb 2x12
1963 Showman head w/ 1x15" cab
late 70's Twin Reverb
Fender Super 60 1x12
mid 60's Ampeg Gemini
Laney Pro Tube 50 (converted to Marshall plexi)
Mesa DC3 head
'81 Marshall 50W JMP head
Barber Echelon head
Bad Cat Black Cat 30 head and 2x12 cab
Mesa Revolver leslie cab
Soldano 4x12 straight front cab

'01 Gibson Les Paul STD +
'59 Guild T-100

Just moved from Taegu Korea to Seoul Korea.
Married to a wonderful woman
I have a nine year old son

Outside interests are the Martial Arts primarily Tae Kwon Do but I have also trained in Shorin Ryu Karate, Jeet Kun Do, and Phillipino Stick/Knife Fighting. My son and I will test to our 2nd degree Black Belts in early September.

Guitar wise I have a Carvin SC90 that is usually the first thing out of the case, an early 60s melody maker, Epi Gold Top, Epi Les Paul Standard, Epi Korina Explorer, Strat, and a handful of Samick guitars.

There are 3 acoustic Charvels that don't see the light of day very often

Amps

I am down to the Vintage Carvin 50 watt with 4 10 cabinet

Effects
I have a footlocker full with a lot of them having never been plugged in. None of them are expensive or out of the ordinary boss this, ibanez that, Dan-0-whatever but something made me by them and the minute I sell them, I'll need them.

I always admire guitarists who are playing from the heart and are comfortable with who they are as a player. People who play for the song catch my ear more than the guy who can perform finger acrobatics.

CHEWIE!!!

Helos and MUSICIANS DON'T MIX!!!! Eek

Funny you mention Gibb Droll. He was playing with Kevin Kenney (Drivin' and Cryin') and my bad at the time got the opening spot for them. He chased me down after our set and raved about how much he liked my playing and tone. Here's the funny part--I had NO idea who he was!!! Big Grin I stayed and watched him, he was damn good! Played thru 2 Holland amps that nite..

I don't know how to quit you Will Ellis.

Dave Shepherd, 47, played guitar since I was 17, wanted to play guitar since I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show as a very young kid.

Drive for Greyhound & haven't even seen my guitars in a couple of months. Summer is when people like to travel. I recently spent 1/2 an hour off of a bus in Salt Lake City. First time in "Zootah" as some call it. Was surprised to see coffee & regular Christian churches.

Guitarwise, I have a Hamer Phantom GT with a Wagner Darkburst, MIJ butterscotch Tele w/Harmonic Designs, MIJ Strat w/Fralins & a Tokai Love Rock w/Pearly Gates.

Amps, all Fender except my Boss Micro Cube. Tweed Deluxe, hotrodded BF Bandmaster & newest addition a BF Bassman

Cabs, two Trutone 1x12 (AlNiCo hempcone Tone Tubby & Ceramic Weber Blue Dog) two Trutone 2x12 (Greenback/Weber Silver Bell & Greenback/Weber version of the 12H30 Celestion. Deluxe has an old JF Naylor Special Design.

Pedals, wow, blue Fuzz Face I got from Willie, Soiled Dove made by some guy, Menatone KOTH, Barber LP & Small Fry, Teese RMC1, Verbzilla, some Voodoo Labs stuff & a Tonebone Hot British. There's more including a Hotcake & a Baby Blue & a few other nice things.

I have no kids (that I know of, ha ha) but I love being an uncle/great uncle to about a ton of nieces & nephews. The younger generation is all boys except for one little girl, who I don't see very often. Last time I did see her I told her she was a little princess. She said "I have a crown out in the car."

I would be remiss if I failed to mention my significant other, Fluffy. She claims that the songs we make up to sing to each other are easily as good or better than anything Woody Guthrie ever did. She is proud to be of the same ethnic background as Dick Dale, except in her case her father was Polish & her mother was Lebanese. Pass the kielbasa & tabouleh, eh?

Divorced. Rhonda is my girlfriend of 5 years - most of the time. Yes, she is waiting for a ring. No, I haven't the faintest idea how long she'll be waiting. Frankly, I don't think I want to go down that road again.

CHILDREN:
Christopher, 19, Sara, 10. No, we didn't plan that much of a gap - you just take 'em when you get 'em.

BIO:
Got my first guitar when I was 8 - a Kay acoustic with spray painted fret markers and "pickguard". After a few years, my folks saw that I was actually learning how to play (thanks to the chord diagrams in the back of a Mel Bay instructional book) and offered lessons. I declined, convinced that I knew best and my folks were just determined to suck the fun out of everything. Many times over the past 40 years I wish I didn't know so much when I was 12 years old! First rock band in high school, also played in the school jazz band. Been gigging most of the time since.

Career wise, I spent a number of years in banking but that ended when I was a VP at Citibank and my entire department was unexpectedly dumped one day. Things changed pretty significantly after that but it ultimately allowed me to join George at Acme Guitar Works and do something that I actually enjoy and have some passion for. I don't hate going to work anymore!

BAND: Leaving my band of the past 5 years at the end of the month to join The Dallas Band.

GEAR:
I have bought and sold way more gear than I care to think about. But I don't need much to gig with and if it's not getting gigged, it gets sold. I don't own gear just for the sake of owning it or because it MIGHT come in handy at some point in the future. I'll worry about that if and when that time ever comes.

GUITARS
Strat – Fender Custom Shop Candy Apple Body, USA Custom Guitars rosewood fretboard neck with Lollar Blonde and Tweed neck pickups. Fender hardware.

Strat – Mexican alder body modified for American vintage trem, USA Custom Guitars maple neck, Suhr V60LP pickups, Fender hardware.

Telecaster – Fiesta Red, Lollar Vintage bridge and AlNiCo III neck pickups, USA Custom Guitars neck with maple fretboard.

Reverend Jetstream 390: As you might have guessed, it has 3 P-90s. After trying several sets, I had Jason Lollar wind a set based on a late '50s Les Paul P-90 with very low output (6.7 - 7.1k). Fat Strat tones except the bridge alone which is very Tele-ish. Chambered basswood body, solid spruce top (not ply or laminate), maple neck, rosewood fretboard.

PEDALBOARD:
Strobostomp Tuner => Skreddy Dual Loop Switcher:
Loop A: Barber Tone Press => Tim Overdrive
Loop B: MI Audio Tube Zone (6 knob version)
RC Booster => Modified Boss DD-3 Delay

AMPS:
Allen Old Flame 2x10 (think Super Reverb with upgrades)
Roland MicroCube (that counts, right?)

Holy crap Bob !!

My parent's house is around the block from that craphole of a bar. Of course, in wyandotte every house is next to a bar!!

Too bad you still don't live up here. I could drive by and check out some pedals! I saw a used mojo vibe in a guitar center not too far back. Should've checked it out.

SPD! Long time no see here in the wonderful world of Toyz. If you ever get to spend more than 1/2 hour in Zootah, Holla'!

Shhh! Don't tell the Mormons, but they think they ARE regular Christians. Wink Hehe, actually the Salt Lake City area is "only" about 60% Mormon. Once out of the more metropolitan areas I'm guessing it shoots up to 90% or better. Actually, I was raised Mormon. But I have for many years considered myself a "generic" Christian, and have no desire to join any particular faith. The Zootah Mormons are really good folks, just highly conservative and "clannish" or "clique-ish".

Yep, not only can you get coffee, you can get alcohol too <gasp!>. The liquor laws take some getting used to, but you can definitely tie one on around here. Trust me, I know. Wink
