Check out this video:
Circumstances This is from my favorite era Rush, 1978, real Prog rock with Modern Rock thrown in too. The best part of it is that it's totally live, not lip-synched. It may sound like it's the playback of the record, but it's definitely live. Geddy's vocals are in top form and doesn't miss a beat on bass/keys simultaneously, a slender Alex has these great clean but still crunchy tones happening (not the grungy H&K tone he's got now), Neil is dead-on Neil (were they his Slingerland's?), albeit with long locks and a 70's Rolle Fingers 'stache! I was a huge fan yrs. ago. |

Cool! Great song too. Nice to see them performing one of their deeper cuts from that era.
Now for those who prefer punishment: Countdown |

Thanks Cubba. I was a big Rush fan back in the day! Never cared for much of Their post 70's stuff though.

NICE one Cubba!! By far my favorite era of Rush--they kicked large ass at this time. I always thought Getty looked like a witch...

Love 'em! Just finished Neil's "ghost Rider" book last week. Really sad stuff - but a nice happy ending in a way.
I think I read next month they're putting out some old concerts on DVD. "Exit stage left" and a few others. My old tape of that wore out back when I was a teenager, so it'll be cool to have it again. PaulC |

Yep- it's DVD versions of "Exit, Stage Left", "Grace Under Pressure", and "A Show of Hands". I remember seeing p/g on LASERDISC once and haven't seen it since... looking forward to the release! Scroll down and check out the sample clips here: http://www.rush.com/php/replay_dvd.php -Ben |

Hemispheres has always been my favorite Rush album. Sweet clip! When I was 14 I was able to talk a friend's dad into taking a group of us to see the Hemispheres tour. They did the WHOLE album. After that I saw an Exit Stage Left Tour called the "Spring Training Tour" I have not seen them since. I am all too happy to keep those memories! |

A blast from the past...
I saw them in concert four times in the '70s. One of the best power trios - some of their songs were lame, but you can't deny their musicianship. LFB ............................................................................................................................. Hey, I sound like me! |

Great band!
Live, they always smoked. It's kinda cool to see all the kids I teach, starting to notice musicianship finally. It's been a LOOOOONG time, since real players have been in style. It's gonna be cool to see them discover RUSH. I've actually had a kid who was into Dashboard Confessional and Jimmy Eat World last year, ask me about playing "Black Star" by Yngwie! We're starting that, today. I figure that "Eruption" will be a hot topic, this year. |

Great mucisianship no doubt, tight breaks etc...
But I have never been able to listen to these guys as the vocals and guitar tones irritate me. I wonder how different rock/pop would be today if punk had not come along. Bands like Yes, Rush etc...played more complex stuff. |

Good stuff reminds me of the good old days of playing Rush tunes in my friends basement.

I had a teacher in the 10th grade ask Us to bring a record along with a copy of the lyrics so We listen and then discuss the poetic merit. I brought "Something for Nothing". The next hardest song brought in was Billy Joel "The Piano Man". The Teacher was not amused by My selection. Years later I ran into The Guy who brought the Billy Joel record. He told Me thanks for turning Him on to Rush and that He'd been to 3 of their concerts and was Their biggest Fan.

Rush rock - never put on a bad live show,, ever!
I caught the last tour and have probably been to 15 shows in my life. Alex Lifeson has to be one of the most over-looked rock guitarists in history. I'd be very interested in a DVD of Exit Stage Left... Anyone remember the shitty Rush MTV videos back in the 80's? "When ya gotta shoot,,,shoot, don't talk" -Tuco- |
