The TZ can cover alot of ground, and is a mean Distorion......not just an OD. I made a little cd with MI Tube Zone and the Subdecay Liquid Sunshine on it for a dealer. E-mail me for a copy, and hear a bit of what TZ can do!

I'll be getting my Blue Boy Friday also, can't wait. I can put it up against a Blues Devil, Cusack Screamer, and modded Tour Pro. Should be interesting.

I've been reading up on the Blue Boy. It sounds like a good pedal what with the internal trimmers and all they control.
But there is some confusion I have about it. Some say it's like a Landgraff but with better internal controls (trimpots vs socket mount caps) and other say it's a Dumble/Santana/Two Rock kind of thing. I'd like to know just how versatile all those tone controls are because every pedal that gets raves for sounding Dumble/Santana-like always sounds bad to me. Big, fat, round, warm, corpulent tones, they say. But all I hear are dark, muddy, indistinct tones that mush out.
On the other hand, the Tube Zone sounds like it could be a really nice high gain lead pedal.
"I've spent most of my money on booze, women and guitar gear. The rest I've just wasted."
I got mine today - it's a nice OD, very versatile.
Not really for me, I couldn't quite put my finger on what I didn't like about it, just "something". Not much help here, but I still had to say somethin!! It has plently of gain on tap, which is good for most folks.
I should say that the manual for this thing is very elaborate and well drawn up. Mike seems to really know how to make things easy to understand. His customer service, so far, is very good.
I guess I just like my MJM BD too much. Tubescreamer clones rule!!
Up on the trading block I guess..

Troy, if I can ask, what OD pedals are you using these days? Blue Boy didn't work out for you, and I know you recently got rid of a Green Rhino, Landgraff, and a Tone Pump.

I am using a custom 2 channel MJM Blues Devil 99% of the time, the TIM gets the other 1%.

Interesting - I like the Green Rhino slightly over the Blues Devil - and I really like the Blue Boy.... to me it's like a TS with more body and sustain, and of course versatility....
