I dont think its a Class A boost ckt but the Barber Launch pad is great as a clean boost pedal that stays very true to your original tone!

Dasch, i know you had the BBE because I bought it from you! I have no clue on class a, but the RC woudl be worth a shot, lots of ways to dial it in, and you can set it flat...on the floor Nah, I imagine you could dial the RC in to compliment any tone.

Lovepedal was making one, I had it for about a year--very cool, one knobby jobby
I just landed a Pharaoh Class A boost--I'll probably gig with it this weekend, nice tone by itself and VERY cool boosting other od/distortion pedals. I guess it can do a "flat" response, mine has a tone control that actually works and works well...

I just picked up a custom mosfet boost from lovepedal. I just have to say it is the cleanest best sounding boost I have ever heard. I leave it on all the time to enhance my sound. It is true to my original tone but just fills out the sound.

Lovepedal is the best.

Man I hate to be a total bonehead doofus boy, but I could stand some education. The Fulltone Fat-Boost that I previously owned purported to be "Class A", I believe. What the heck's the difference between a booster circuit that's Class A and one that isn't? Folks seem to take great delight in debating this with amps (Standel *is*; VOX *isn't*; etc.). What's the skinny?

Just received my RC Booster from Ted. Very nice ped. Relatively flat EQ, as consistently reported, with gobs of headroom. I've only played it at moderate volume here at the shack, but I'm impressed thusfar. It and a Klon are sitting side-by-side on the board I'll be using with a band later this eve, so I look forward to hearing how it'll fare at volume.

You can get a RAT to do a good flat, clean boost. Also, a Sweet Sound Habenero Booster is cool. I love the one my friend plays. The Timmy could probably do what you want, also. It's a stellar pedal, all the way around.

Two pedals that do a great job of the transparent clean boost for me are the Barber Tone Press, which also gives you an awesome compressor in the deal ... and a Tim (or Timmy),which give you some great OD and EQ options as well. For just a few more bucks than a boost only, why not get a bit more versatility?

That said, there are a lot of popular boost pedals that should get you where you're going.

Another plug for the RC Booster. This is the most transparent boost I've yet encountered -- very amp-like and musical.

Sometimes I just like playing with guitar into Duncan Pickup Booster into Vox AC30CC. The Duncan is a "class A", "discrete" booster with flat EQ, and sounds GREAT. I was just wondering if there's an even better choice . . .

FatBoost is very good as well as the BYOC Triboost - Easy to build - three different shades of boost.

+1 on RC Booster, plus the separate bass and treble controls make it a very versatile EQ, too.

Good question. One difference is that some boosters have very good buffers that minimize signal degradation between guitar and amp, and send a stronger, clearer, more detailed signal to your amplifier. Result: better sound than just turning the amp up.

With a booster, you're also hitting your preamp section harder. It's a different flavor of overdrive - a little smoother and more compressed.
