G&L ASAT Semi-Hollow (w/P-90 style pups) =>

Strobostomp => Oxygen => TIM => BBOD => DRD => RC Booster =>

Blackfaced '71 Bandmaster Reverb 2x10

Tonequest sent me a bridge pickup from an ASAT that he had sitting around and that definitely corrected the problem I was having with the bridge pup that came in this guitar! Twangy beef - very cool! The Oxygen evened out my sound and really helped with the chicken pickin' thing. The Tim, BJF peds and RC all did their thing so well that it was very inspiring. As a result, I had some of the best tones I've had in I don't know how long and I played accordingly. The best part is I'm back in the same room tonight and tomorrow night too!

TQ is going to send me the neck pup that goes with this bridge pickup as the neck pickup I have is technically not the "right" match for the bridge model. I had to adjust it quite a bit lower than the bridge to compensate for it's greater output. TQ's neck pup will not be so far "off" and will likely be a better tonal match too.

At any rate, I really just wanted to brag on my great sounding rig and a great gig. Big Grin

TD...you gotta share some of that tone with us, bro! Throw a tape in tonight and upload it for us to check it out too! I've been wanting to hear your playing for a long time.

Anyway, cool on the great tone night. Those are the nights that really make it for me. Kills any sense of buyer's remorse I often get with music equipment.

No way am I going to upload any recording of my playing. I like that you all think I'm a half decent player and I don't want to ruin the delusion. Eek Razz

Yeah TD. You need to start recording some clips!! You have a laptop don't you? You should look into some sort of portable system, like a Pro Tools M-Box. I have one that I use with my laptop for a easy portable system. It's easier than hauling around my Digi-rack system. You can pick them up for about $400.00 Just don't buy any pedals for a few weeks, and you'll have it!!! Big Grin

There are other portable options as well, but I'm not very familiar with them.

Shhhhhh..!!!!

Just kidding! No, TQ does not expect them back. They are coming out of a semi-hollow ASAT that he cracked the body pretty badly when he hit that guy in the head with it. You know.... the guy who requested "Free Bird" one too many times one night. I'm tellin' you guys, the boy's a loose cannon....

Actually, I'd like to look into that, Dan. My laptop is a Compaq 2529 with a Pentium 4, 2.4 ghz processor with 512 mb RAM and a 30 gig hard drive. Will that be enough to record with? What else would I need?

TD - I looked into the recording thing, some very cool stuff out there. For field recording I just bring my Tascam Poketstudio 5 and take lines outta the board. I also have a stereo mic if I ever get brave enough to leave it out in the crowd! It records direct to mp3 which is cool.

For $200.00 there is the zoom ps04, uses 128meg smart cards and is a great tool for getting ideas down with good quality for those with time to do so, which is not me Frown

Has a very good internal mic and some report good results recoding rehearsals etc...

the thing is very small, can fit in a guitar case pocket. Has 4 tracks with 10 virtual tracks and many effects and nice mastering feature. When I have time to use it I am amazed with what can be done with such a small device.

TD,

That would be fine to run Pro Tools on. I'd HIGHLY suggest a second hard drive if you plan on doing recording. You could get an external USB drive for your laptop. When doing DAW (Digital Audio Worstation.. ie Computer) recording, you want audio, and data on different drives. I have an external drive for my laptop, and a secondary drive for my destop at home.

If you have any questions about any of that stuff let me know.

Yeah right...tell the truth...you paid the guy to request Freebird so he would get hit...the guitar would crack and you could have your beloved pickups...right...Razz
