MrHuge shows up on this forum sometimes, so I'm sure you can probably get the answer from the source. From what I know he's just revamping the old Way Huge web page and putting on some new pics of custom pedals. I haven't heard anything about a Way Huge comeback.

If he does start making them again for the price that they were before Way Huge went under, would this drive down the prices of the Way Huge pedals you can find on eBay and in classifieds for $400 or more?

Heard it from a former Dealer shop worker--- would love to know directly from Mr. Tripps hisself........good point on the reissue bringing the used inflated prices back down---depends,, Original 808 Tubescreamers keep going up ( wonder how long until Ibanez reissues THE 808 itself) despite the ts9 reissue and countless knockoffs....I guess it would depend on the quality and supply and it hasnt been that long so quality shouldnt be an issue...what really interests me is what the man may have thought up over the last few years and how they would compete in the 'flooded and growing booteek' market of today??????

hmm. seems to me, there's always been a flood of bad pedals around. the only thing different today is the astounding number of people who knock off famous old designs, make no improvements, and stamp a new name on them.

Hi Zach,
I'm trying to read between the lines. Are you saying that Way Huge pedals suck?

Just curious, because that's what it seems like.

It sounds to me like Mr. Vex is saying that Way Huge would not hesitate to re-enter the market because of competition, because real competition has always existed.

Mr. Vex has a point...there are different reasons for making pedals though, some 'exact copies of old pedals' are very successful because they give people what they need: an old sound in a new form (be it a road worthy box and true-bypass, or parts upgrades)... and really what new thing/Dimension can you manipulte in a guitar signal? You can change its amplitude, its frequency- its time, space and phase.. all pedals are simply Dimension Manipulators,,pick a dimension or two , say space and time and you get choruses and reverbs,,,etc.......you put these components in a well shielded box, and cover it in an interesting (or not so interesting) way and see what the market will bear...is it wrong to take the most popular pedals of the past and correct a few things that can be upgraded and sell them under a diffent name????? hmmm

How come? I have a Green Rhino, and I'm getting a Red Llama this week.... I like the Rhino, it seems like it's pretty similar in sound to a Fulldrive II.

Yeah I liked them both and wish I had them back, the LLama is just a perfect solid overdrive, the Rhino seemed to be an 808 but with a really sweet low-mid I havent heard in another yet--- nothing Huge (or WAY HUGE even) just correctly and solidly made tone tools,,,, we had 4 WH dealers hear and 3 of them weremy favorite stores- so I just thought they were everywhere like that!... and so you would find them used regularly- Llamas and Platypusses for $80 I had 3 different Rhinos $125 the most I ever paid...wont see that again Im guessing....

I don't know. I bought an Aqua Puss new, didn't like it, and sold it for a profit. I tried a Red Llama, really wanted to like it because I loved the name, but its tone wasn't for me - I like a Lovetone Brown Source ten times better. Then I tried a Swollen Pickle, but again there were similar pedals that I liked much better. OTOH these pedals get good reviews all over the place; so I guess Mr Way Huge just has very different taste from mine.

This has nothing to do with what Zach said or didn't say, but I always found it odd that Way Huge pedals are going for such huge sums of money and yet they're all basically just copies of vintage pedals and I think the Way Huge guy even admits to this. Green Rhino: TS808, Red Llama: EH Hot Tubes, um, Saffron Squeeze is a Orange Squeezer I think? I know he does a Big Muff clone. Not that it's so bad to get a true bypass Tubescreamer clone in a solid metal box and all for $150 (when they were new) but $400??

Sorry folks,
I have no plans to re-open Way Huge at this time. I am updating my web page with info about each pedal for collectors and the like.
As for the whole notion about making copies of old pedalsÂ… If I liked a particular product and I felt I could make it better, I would. I built pedals that I liked and I rarely designed products for anyone but myself. IÂ’m sure youÂ’re getting the idea. I did not start Way Huge to make products for everyone. I made pedals that fit my needs, desires and taste. It just so happened that some people have the same tastes that I do. Some donÂ’t and consequently they donÂ’t like Way Huge Pedals. ItÂ’s a great big world full of incredible audio delicaciesÂ…
To each his own.
-Mr. Huge
