I'm going out to play, tonight, and will be taking a Deluxe Reverb styled amp, my blue Warmoth Soloist, and 3 pedals. So, I "built" a small pedalboard for tonight.

Here's some pix:

Here's a better pic of my BYOC Chorus/Vibrato. The box was finished by DONNERBOX:

Here's the Soloist:

Back;

I'll report back on how this setup treats me, after the Jam.

It's really a board with pedals on it. Great minimalist set up. You got your Timmy Overdrive, Modulation, and a tuner. Who needs a stinkin' delay. Dude, you rock.

Jeff im thinking of something similar, someone gave me a big NYC Pedalboard, the top level up peice the kegs of it are velcroed instead of screwed on, so it comes off(didnt like it anyways) and im going to use that piece as something similar

Reeves Gabrels set out to do that very same thing, using primarily Guyatone and MXR pedals, apparently he got a lot of stuff in roughly the size of a license plate. Functionality was severely compromised, as it was difficult to just press one button.

The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Lot to be said about a small/pared down pedalboard.
I see cats with pedalboards the size of aircraft carriers and just scratch my head--do you really NEED all that sh*t just to play????

It does look a bit "lonesome", Swain.. Big Grin
Nice soloist too--very cool w/Pepe on the back!

The "Pepe Le Pew" Signature Model.

Yeah Willie, I was going to put the BP on the board. But, the Timmy was rocking pretty well with this set up. I may add the BP, or maybe the Fuzz Head to it.

Can't wait to put a Cactus Crunch on there!

Anyway, the Jam was a little looser last night. I think some of the regulars were "lit up" more than usual! But, I finally got to sit in a little. I was over to the side, and just got a chance to play along and learn some of the tunes. Got a solo on "The Thrill Is Gone" in Bb. That was cool, as I already know that tune pretty well.

Guess I'll be off to the side, in the "on deck", New Guy spot. LOL

I'll go back next week, and see what happens.

Really had a good time. The pedalboard worked like a charm. Playing rhythm on some song I didn't know (but, this one I picked up quickly, with it's easy changes), I kicked on the Chorus. Problem is, one of the knobs must have been bumped. It was a fairly extreme effect! But, I just went with it. After that set, a couple of the guys commented on how cool that tone was! HaHa!

Then, I let another one of the regulars play through my amp and pedals. He sounded great, and was asking me all about "those blue pedals". I figure Paul C will be selling another Timmy soon.

The Deluxe styled amp was cool for this gig. But, it wasn't quite loud enough with keys, 3 guitars, drums, congas, bass, harmonica, 4 or singers all going. I'm sure it could be heard. But, it would have been too overdriven for a lot of the tunes, if I would have tried to get more out of it. So, maybe next Jam I'll take the Twinmaster. The other guys had a Classic 50 212, a Music Man 120? maybe?, and another small Music Man. And I think all of those amps were in the 40 to 50 watt range. The larger MM was very powerful, but the guy playing it was great at balancing his volume and tones with everybody else.

That's one of the reasons these guys sound so good. They all know how to play well with others.

Anyway, it was a great time. Hopefully, they'll let me back in, and I'll even get to stretch out. Eventually! (Wax on, Wax Off.......).

There's another Jam a few blocks from that one, on Wednesdays. I may go check that one out, too. Just for more practice. But, I doubt it'll be as cool as this one. The one I went to last night seems to be just about as good as anything I ever heard in Austin (I mean the regular ones. Excluding of course, the Antone's after hours Jams with SRV, the King's, etc.!). And those were some good Jam Sessions!

A little more on stage action for me, and maybe I'll feel more comfortable getting something original together.
