Murphy, JackButler turned me onto the JJ Tesla 6L6 GCs and they sound very good in my Soldano and are inexpensive.

Then I think the JJs would be a great option.

Also, depending on what tone you are after, you could put in a Brimar Cv4004 in V1. It has helped sweeten my Soldano quite a bit, leaving me with a much rounder tone. They are not inexpensive, though.

Iv been through every new production 6L6 except TAD. I can say the best 6L6 Iv tried are the Groove Tubes 6L6GC/GE. Realy Im not kidding. Check them out. The JJ 6L6GC and Tung-Sol 6L6GC-STR would be my second choice. And a damn fine second choice at that. Id pass on the winged "C". Not a bad tube, but with the others available (and cheaper) Id pass on them.

I have heard realy good things about the TAD tubes. Two-Rocks uses them as OEM for there amps. But no personal expirence.

Are those the type of 6L6 that break up a bit quicker or are those the WGB type?

I would love to lower my output just a bit if I could and still retain my tone.

www.eurotubes.com is a good online site for JJ's. The guy is really on it. You can ask him for different levels of gain etc.

i didn't compare them with other tubes. TAD says 6L6GC = RCA-Style and 6L6WGC = GE-Style....

yeah the discription I read seemed to suggest a warmer more vintage response ( complex mids sweet highs duplicate of GE tube) from the WGC and clear airy top end and deep tight low end ( that sounds aittle dirty... Big Grin)fron the GC
