I'm looking for a Univibe clone, and I've read the old posts. I'm wondering what you folks think is the best Uni-Vibe clone going. Is the Sweet Mojo-Vibe similar to the Ultra-Vibe? The same? Deja Vibe users, tell me what you like/dislike about them. Are the Dunlops any good? Dumb question?
Thanks

I just traded my supatrem for an older dejavibe (the big one) and I love it. the only other vibe i've heard is the voodoolab. I love the vibrato/chorus switch and I think it's pretty lush sounding. I don't love the size or the wallwart. But it definitely has me thinking about the mini dejavibe, as this one is way too big for the board.

You know it really comes down to what songs are you going to use the Vibe on?
How many tunes call for a Vibe?
Do you need an expression pedal with it or can you deal with the speed adjustment with the side of your foot?
I am a wah and vibe junky and have tested like all of them more than once. I have 2 Mojo Vibes right now and have sold the rest off although the mini Deja-Vibe was excellent also. The reason I kept the Mojo over the Fulltone was because the Mojo has a jack for an expression pedal while, unfortunately, the Fulltone does not. I am not sure if I would even want to use an expression pedal with the Mojo but it's a nice option. While the customer service is excellent either way you go here so that shouldn't be an issue here.
In the lower $$$ Category the Voodoo Labs is a great one and it's true bypass. Be sure to get the one with the LED if you go this route.
If you have a looper in your pedalboard the Dunlop Uni-Vibe is one of my all time favorites. It does a great Vibe and Chorus but it not true bypass and probably the most like the original in that aspect. With the one I had I even heard the oscillators when the pedal was supposed to be off. Don't expect any customer service from Dunlop either. Too big to be nice I guess.
So I guess it depends on how serious you are about Vibes.

Without a doubt the Sweet Sound Mojo Vibe is the way to go! As far as the Ultra goes, I think it is the same circuit just a different housing. I do know a couple of players that sold their Deja Vibe for the Sweet Ultra and never looked back. As for the Mojo I always get compliments on how it is the most authentic sounding univibe they have ever heard.
I had a gold Deja Vibe and it was very sweet sounding. But, I didn't think it worked well with my amp and sold it, only to find out one of my 12ax7's was bad. Oh well, live and learn. But I do miss the vibe on a couple of tunes and I'm thinking about either the Sweet Sound or the mini Deja Vibe.
Why the Microvibe WITH the LED? I had heard that the older one without the LED was less phasey and the one to have. What are the differences? Have you had them both? Thanks

Hi mapleNeck
I have had them both and just like pedals with status indicators best. I didn't notice any difference between them other than the LED.
I like status indicators so much that I am even putting an LED in a wah that I am building for my pedal board.
I failed to mention the MJM and MMFX Vibes but they too sound really good. I think these two could be the best for the boutique money as well if you can deal with their size or the fact that the MMFX runs on household current only. The MJM that I had was #6 and was about the size of a cinder block.
Just a thought about the bigger Ultra Vibe and Deja Vibe is that they are both going out of fashion because everyone wants small pedals these days. I would jump on the bigger one if the price was right.

Wow, thanks for all the good info. JoeS, I had a couple Micro Vibes, and didn't dig them either.
I have a Dunlop on the way that I picked up for $75 online. If I dig the sound, I'll have my tech put a true-bypass switch in it. I'm not expecting much and I'll just unload it if it dosen't work for me.
I passed on a big gold early Fulltone recently, just because of the size. an expression pedal is not crucial, if I really want it I can get a 3rd hand from Musictoyz.
I want to try the MJM, Fulltone Mini, Sweetsound & MMFX. I better get some Beano for my GAS!

I was talking with Morgan about doing the charge pump thing to his Vibe. That would bring the size down and do away with the power chord and that would make his pedal even better I think. Unfortunately Morgan is in Iraq now so new stuff isn't in the cards for now. I wish him a safe and speedy return.
Looking at construction the MJM and MMFX are both made on home made pcbs and have kinda the same warmth to them. MMFX are all warm and a great sounding overall and would be my pick between these two.
I mentioned the Voodoo Labs, which isn't as warm, because it is nice and easy on the wallet.
Deja and Mojo also kinda sound the same and both sound different from the MJM or MMFX.
I guess what I am saying is if you wanted to test a few it would be either the Mojo/Deja and the MJM/MMFX as they cover pretty much the same sounds sonically.
Good luck
George
