After that brief bout with GAS, well not real GAS but enough to make me consider selling a really great amp, I've found the solution to my problem.
I was debating on getting rid of my Z-28 in favor of a Carr Rambler. With the main selling point being size and portability. So I've decided to get a 2x10 combo cab for my Z-28 head at a 1/4 of the price of the Rambler. Granted I won't have built in verb but that's why I have a Verb Unit. And it won't have onboard trem, but that's why they make trem pedals. And for those really big gig's I can stack my Z-28 combo ontop of my Z 2x10 cab for a whopping 4x10's!!!! So all is well. Sorry Javi
I've played a Rambler several times at a local store. I thought it was a great sounding amp on its own, but sounded extremely stiff with a variety of dirt pedals. Maybe the speaker needs to break in, maybe it needs to be heard in the context of a gig, maybe I just generally don't jive with that type of base tone, so take it with a grain of salt.

My biggest fear is 6L6's in Class A. The amps sound clips I've heard make it sound like a pretty healthy amp and probably doesn't give in to pedals all that well. At least not as well as I would like. Oh well I just saved myself 1700.00 bucks...ok not quite.
