I've been doing almost all basement playing for the last two months, and now that the staleness has set in, i'm gassing for all sorts of junk. Unhappy with my tone, for no reason other then i'm not recording or gigging. What cure could i have without selling my car/robbing a bank?

Stereo rig!!!!!!

Two amps is my perfect setup. It's what i spent most of my youth playing, and have just gotten away from it for the sake of simplicity. But it is the sound i am chasing. Thick, swirly, and nuanced. Makes all my gain pedals come to life.

As a member of this forum, i hope you guys remind me of this whenever i'm trying to buy your used gear off of you. When i'm trying to buy your trem pedal, or 3 of your distortions, please remind me to plug in a second amp. Thank you.

cheers

Two amps are great!! When I can, I like to run two totally different amps. Like a tweed Fender and a Vox. Makes for a great unique sound.

Yup me too. When I don't have a gig, I seem to amass a crazy amount of gear thinking I'll use it. Then I get a gig, and realize I don't need 30 sounds to play a show, and I sell off tons of stuff.

Get some gigs!? Geez! You guys are rough!!

It's only been a couple months since i played some shows, and i've got a couple different things sort of floating around that i hope to get going soon. And it's very true that simplicity rules onstage, and all of the extravagance of 12 pedals and 5 guitars becomes completely redundant and pointless. Onstage, I'm a one guitar, one amp, 5 pedals guy.

But to stick to my main point on the original post, I used to gig two amps, and just today rediscovered what, to me, is a bit of magic.

in the old days: LP into Hiwatt/Vibrolux

Today: Tele into Maz18/Ac15cc

The AC15 thread got me to plug in that amp for the first time in months, and i'll be damned if i'm putting my Maz away! So decided to run them both. Maz set with some gain, and brighter, Vox darker, with trem. Stereo Reverb! Just made the whole room sound full, with less shrillness on the highs and less tubby lows. Even tho it must have been pretty loud, it didn't feel as chaotic when i would kick in some dirt.
I was having a bit off fun running the tremelo on the Vox, and a Mad Prof Delay into just the Maz. Ambient, swampy.

Just one of those good playing days, where inspiration is there to be had.

Thanks,

cheers
