I have recently become pretty interested in this box and was wondering what others' impressions are of it. I am looking for something to use for lower-volume gigs with my 69' 50-watt Marshall. I presently use the Hyde side of my Visual Sounds Jekyll & Hyde, and though it is an excellent pedal, I am looking for something with a bit more warmth. I know the Brown won't have the gain of the Hyde, but I never turn it past 12:00 anyways. Just wondering if it is worth the ton of dough, and what others thoughts are on it.

Hey there,
This pedal is truly worth the money. Not thinking it did enough, I almost sold mine, until I decided to play it in front of a Z. Vex SHO boost pedal... a world of difference! You're right, it won't supply distortion or high gain, but it does supply some of the best clarity I've ever heard while still provide thick, warm overdrive. I use it in of 15 to 30 watt Vox, Hiwatt and Fender Tweed amps.

I love the Brown Source, but it's not for everyone. It has a very complex, but somewhat dark (brown) sound with some fuzz on top and some crackle and crispness - a lot closer to a sick amp about to blow up than other ODs, not at all pretty sounding like a Fulldrive, but very complex and cuts through like no other. It works extremely well with other pedals. Less muddy than most with a fuzz or lead distortion in front of it, but can also add some clarity and complexity to a smoother OD after it.
