has anyone besides me had problems w/ pre- scription electronics pedals? i bought 2 new ones (rx OD and yardbox)a year apart and they both were cutting in/out-i tried to at least get a switch for the newer one from them(him?) and was treated like a piece of s**t...eventually i had to have someone near me replace the switches AND re-solder a good # of connections as well-P.E. took NO responsibility for the faulty workmanship. am i the only one?

I had an Experience pedal that had similar switching problems. Sometimes it just wouldn't turn on at all. Then I figured out that if you just hit the switches in a certain order it seemed to work ok, but not too reliable. I sold it, and the buyer complained to me and said that he talked to the guy at PE, and it was gonna cost a lot of money to "fix." I offered to take it back eventually, but he had already unloaded it on someone else by that time.
It's probably for sale again right now (for the thousandth time) on Harmony Central...
I also had a Yardbox that worked fine. None too smooth sounding, but got some great vintage, early Led Zeppelin tones with a Les Paul.

I've dealt with P.E. (Jack)many times over the years and he's always tooking real good care of me. You may have caught Jack on a bad day. I've talked to Jack many times over the phone and very fun with lots of info. I bought an Experience 'used' and it had bad dpdt switches and Jack replaced all three for $30 shipped. As long as your cool&honest with Jack he's great to deal with.I own a PE Vibe-Unit and have NEVER had a days problem with it.Also had a Yardbox and it took a beating but always held up.

The bad switches these days definitely aren't manufactured by RX Electronics and not only with their pedals. LOADS of the 'boutique" type pedals are having bad switches. There were lots of Carlings that I've had intermittent in the past couple of years. I heard from 1 boutique wah maker that almost 50% of the switches he was getting in 1 batch were bad. That sucks. Hopefully that problem will be over soon and we'll get switches again that will last 30 years like the ones used to on the 60's amps and the 60's and 70's fx. ERIC

cool- i wouldn't really care about it if i didn't like the way they sounded-the RX especially...i'm not sure about now,but the vibe units were made by someone else at one time-it's not really my thing but i've heard guys using them and they sounded quite good.

I also have a PE Experience with bad switches. I called Prescription and they said they would fix it for $50. I haven't decided whether or not I'll get it fixed. I love the sound of the pedal so I guess I will.

I had a problem with my Yardbox crapping out (not a switch problem...possibly a transistor or wiring issue). My music store may just replace it and deal with P.E. on their own. I'd rather them do that.

my tech friend completed work on the RX,and now that it's working properly i can almost forget what a problem it's been-i find it to be a kick-ass boost, especially with a not-too- clean amp...i feel kinda bad for mouthing off about the PE guy,but i basically had to have the thing rewired-luckily it only cost a lot of time and not $$'s.
cheers!

I had an Experience that I bought with bad switches. I called Jack, he said he'd replace them for $50, which sounded like extortion to me. Why not just ship the pedal with good switches? I shipped the pedal to him anyway for a reason I forget, and it was 7 months before I saw it again. Out of the dozen or so times I called, he answered the phone only twice. I told him to give me back my pedal. He apparently sent it at his leisure. I eventually traded the pedal to an online dealer in exchange for a Hot Cake, but had to pay them the $50 to get it fixed. The Experience was a cool pedal though, not to the credit of P.E. since it is a Foxx tone machine ripoff, minus the useless Swell 'feature."

Every piece of PE gear I've bought sounds great but has gone down ... usually in a wierd way and at a bad time . And , while Jack was really good about fixing the stuff and getting it back to me it would always go down again . Every player I know who owns PE stuff says the same thing ... " great sounding but un - reliable " . Theres' even a boutique store in my area that refuses to carry it because they've had to send so much of it back .

Based on my experiences with the Yardbox (I'm still awaiting a new one), I'm going to go with the Soul Bender. Based on the new mods that were talked about in the Fulltone '69 thread, it sounds like the SB will be right up my alley.
I don't gig (I may do some home recording), but I do want gear that's reliable. Not much to ask.
