Howdy!
I remember playing through one of these about a year ago... It was on a friend's pedalboard. It might have been the amp I was playing it through at the time... But I thought the thing sounded GREAT! What was I hearing? My ear isn't as trained as some of the experts on these forums. Is that a full-spectrum boost? A treble boost? Bass? Mid? Just curious... I might want to see if I can pick one up cheaply. Any help would be very much appreciated! -Dave Nailling |

I'd say it's more of an all purpose boost. EQ is actually flatter than a lot of the pricey booteeks. Seems like it bumps the mids a tad, but not to the degree that a Klon does.
This is the pedal I recommend to folks looking to test the boost waters on the cheap, or who a need something that works pretty well with a variety of amps. Great little bang for the buck tool that everyone should own. I've seen 'em used for as low as 40 bucks. I've been using one as a lead boost on my acoustic-electric board for years. Works great. ________________ Tone is in the feet. |

Strictly speaking it's a guitar-range boost. It starts to cut off highs at 50kHz (beyond the range of human hearing - this is to prevent oscilation) and depending on the boost setting, cuts off lows from 0.6Hz (lowest setting) to 12Hz (max boost). 12Hz is below even a bass guitar's low E, so for guitar purposes, it's a full range boost. The high end may be emphasized because of its high input impedance (if you plug directly into it, you'll notice a brighter sound.)

The Klon really only boosts mids if you set the treble at 12oclock high.
I own both...I have an ancient beat to shit MXR micro amp that was my boost for about 7 years before I settled on the Klon. And I kept it in spite of using moded Tube Screamers, etc...I mean literally tons of treble boosters and clean boost pedals...(everything I can think of aside from BJF stuff which I've been completely ignorant of until I got here.) It does boost everything it does slightly jack your mids. It also cuts some Highs. as Davei emphasized but in a pretty natural way that you don't notice so much. It's great for what it is...But I had an old one that sounded awesome until the wiring to the battery teeth sort of disintigrated last year. (I've been told that this is not too hard for people to fix but I just don't trust myself with wiring things.) I in fact STILL have it if you want one cheap email me though you would have to look into fixing it up, but hey Donner could make a really cool box for it or something so it looks nice...(this is a weathered pedal it saw tours with my cousins band for like 8 years before I ever gigged with it...and I think he got it used haha!!! my email: carymiller@gmail.com "As long as there is a lower class, I am in it.
