I'm planning on buying some Lovetone pedals, but since I can't check them out where I live (aside from the sound files on their site) I'd figure I'd ask the experts. So what do you think? Are they dependable? Worth the bucks? Beyond belief? Crap? I'm refering to all of their stuff, but if you have experience with any one of their pedals, then please fire away. Thanks for your help.

Hi Jim, I very recently got a used "?" Flanger. I am very pleased with it so far. It just sounds right. I guess it's the analog thing.
I bought it to replace some vintage pedals I used to own that I could no longer afford to re-buy, such as a Univibe.
To my ear the "?" has the magical something that the old vintage pedals had, but w/o all the hiss...
It is my only Lovetone so far, but it's a pretty complicated pedal. I like the fact that you can cover a lot of ground with it and it is endlessly tweakable, but I will be using it for recording.
If I planned to use it live I might not find the tweakability as useful as having a bunch of individual pedals, since for live you would want to be able to stomp and have your sound, not need to bend over and twiddle a bunch of knobs for several minutes...
My .02...
My impression in my very limited experience is that they sound great...!!! -V

PS- Regarding "worth the bux", I think the "?" was actually a great and ecponomical bargain since it gets a Univibe like thing, ringmoddish thing, flange, phase, tremolo, delay, weird oscillators, on and on. It does the work of 6 or 7 pedals I think.... -V

I had a Brown Source, the name is a double entendre.
Can't speak for the other models they offer, but most folks seem to really like the "?" pedal.

Every Lovetone pedal is my favorite pedal of its type - by a mile. But they're not perfect for everyone or every situation. For example, a Lovetone Meatball is incredibly tweakable and versatile; but I could easily imagine someone prefering to use two or three less expensive pedals for playing live rather than reaching down to adjust a Meatball's settings between songs.

I have a Lovetone Brown Source and it is great. It has no fizz, no buzzy harsh sounds at all. I use it in front of my Marshall to enhance the tone the amp has and it works spledidly.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I would be using these in a studio setting and probably wouldn't be gigging with them unless I found a good setting and left it there. Do you find the build quality good on the pedals? Has anyone tried the Wobulator? Thanks again.

For studio use, I think you'll love them. I don't know how to judge the build quality except to say that out of eight pedals that were shipped to me from England, only one arrived needing repair - a loose solder connection on one of the footswitches.
The Wobulator has great tone and a ton of features - square wave/triangle, tremolo/vibrato/dual tremolo/stereo panning, exp pedal input, synch input.

I got the Big Cheese and love it too. I got it in trade, but the other pedals are pretty high $.
