I had to sell my Lovetone Doppelganger a while ago and I'm about to replace it, UNLESS someone has tried both the Mooger Fooger 12-stage phaser and the Lovetone and can honestly say the Mooger Unit is cooler. I'm not so keen on rotating speaker simulations as I have a Motion Sound SR-12 to do that - so I'm really just wanting the best pedal for thick classic 70's phase sounds. Any help out there?

Can't comment directly but just to let you know that Maxon has a phase unit coming in the "Vintage" series that looks very cool

don't own the moogerfooger phaser yet but i stand by my delay and filter. the filter especially has that vintage tone. i imagine the phaser to be the same. hope this helps.

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for....but, I just got me a Doppleganger and can't imagine how anything could beat it. No experience with the Moog though...

this is a late response...but i have had both.
i sent the dopple back. it was not strong enough to me for rotary simulations and phase not thick enough. but exteremely transparent. i bought a big briar and it is much thicker and more phaser options.
i have since tried a od pedal in front of it and is really thick now. in hind sight i wish i could have tried an od pedal with the dopple. i think that i would have preferred it a little more than the briar. briar is not noisey at all but does color your tone more. both are good pedals. not 100% confident in the reliabilty of lovetone products.

Well if you can find one my vote goes to the TC programmable phaser. Still the best darn phase shifter I ever heard, both clean and distorted it sounds killer. A much better phaser than the TC SCF chorus is a chorus imho.

I prefer the Doppleganger by a lot, but I agree with these descriptions. I'll just add that I prefer to put a phaser in front of an OD and only put really high gain fuzzes like a Fuzz Factory or Ring Stinger in front of a phaser.

I think the mooger phase is kick ass but the maxon analog rotory phaser is to die for. Try it. I just got one, and it smokes for phaser. I pick it over the mooger not only for the cheaper $ but because the analog tone is just as good! It has that photo cell in it to make it phase in a really cool stereo motion.
