Why? Well, I just sold my motorcycle and had a little north of $3K burning a hole in my pocket. The wife staked her claim to a share by hauling me down to Sears yesterday to pick out a new refrigerator and microwave. She darn near bought one of those smooth-top stoves too.

Figured I better do something fun with the remainder before it's all gone. Hey, it was my bike afterall.

Care to guess what exactly a nigh-gasless VanStone might have purchased?

Well since nobody's guessing, I'll spill the beans. My 8th Carvin is in the queue - A California Carved Top. I'll post a pic in a couple of months when she arrives.

I figured with the price of gasoline skyrocketing it is only a matter of time before the price of wood and parts follow suit, and thus the price of guitars. Plus, who knows how long these will be in the Carvin lineup? If I was ever going to add one to my collection, now is the time.

And, heck, I had to do something frivilous with part of the motorcycle proceeds before my wife went and blew it all on practical stuff! Right?
