unfortunately, i don't have a camera, but i'll include links for ya, as it's on it's way to becoming quite the tone monster.
first off, i have a u.s. strat plus & a '61 reissue les paul/sg (mid nineties, so it still has the nitrocellulose finish), respectively fitted out with jim wagner's "SR" set (single coils) & "Fillmore" set (humbuckers, replica's of duane allman's "live at the fillmore east" set, though we're working on the "Crossroads" set at the moment) http://crcoils.com/index.html -Retroman "Beano", a dallas rangemaster clone that uses the original mullard oc44 germanium, & is the best treble boost i've heard. & it only costs $135 shipped! it's worth following the link below & reading about it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2544467779&category=22669&rd=1 -teese rmc3 (geoff is in the process of designing a "wheels of fire" pedal for me based on a setting of mine for the rmc3. it's gonna kill! essentially, you will no longer need the fox retrofit/mod, as it is distorion/fuzz-proof, will have a q knob, & an on/off toggle, so you don't have to pull out yer cable to save on battery-life. and it sounds equally awesome with hum's & single coils.) http://www.realmccoycustom.com/ -Digitech xp100 WhammyWah (extinct) -FMR Audio RNC1773 "Really Nice Compressor" (hey, if yer gonna use a compressor, use a good one! and the "super nice" mode is the shite!) http://www.fmraudio.com/ -Fulltone DP-1 (it doesn't get much better than this for a high gain pedal that sounds this natural. & the key is the saturation knob, for those who think it ain't versatile. it's a feel pedal, not a metal-style, scooped mid jobbie.) -Fulltone Ultimate Octave (i wanted an Electric Smile, but i got too good a price for this one. & it turns out that the fuzz on this thing is killer! the germanium diodes give it that percussive thang.) -Sweetsound "MojoVibe" (this pedals just shits on the competition! bob is the "vibe" king, just as geoffrey is the "wah" king! it is the ONLY vibe to get, period!) http://www.sweetsound.com/ -DLS Chorus~Vib (when my t.c. finally saw the ghost, the fact that THEY STILL COST $300 BLOODY BUCKS made me have a look around. i ALMOST went for analog mike's clone chorus, when i stumbled across these guys' site. one word of advice; go listen to the mp3's!!! they're in the process of designing a leslie pedal, & i'll report back when they send me a prototype.) http://www.dlseffects.com/chorus_vib.htm -ISP Decimator (designed by the "Hush" guy) http://www.isptechnologies.com/header.php?action=Products&&prodid=8 -SIB Echodrive (still playin' around with this variable) http://www.smfamps.com/echodrive.htm into an: SMF "15-Watter" (2 X EL84, 5 X 12AX7, 1 X GZ34), designed by mark sampson & rick hamel, this thing rules! http://www.smfamps.com/amp_info.htm ml |

Hi,
Just a follow-up to the Fulltone Ultimate Octave. It is actually silicon transistor based, not germanium "diodes" as you describe. Head |

it uses a silicon trannie, but the diodes are germanium.(this, from fuller's own description to me).

Hey muddy, nice gear -- can you talk about the Fillmore set? I've been thinking about getting a set for my SG (same model as yours), but I haven't seen/read enough to make up my mind.
I'm worried this is a one-trick pony -- how is it clean vs. dirty, and is the 13k ohmage TOO hot for some situations? Also, what's the dif between Fillmore, Goodwood, and soon to come Crossroads? Any help appreciated. Thanks. -- GM |

Hey GM in NY, did you check the reviews on harmony-central under Wagner Custom Rewinds! http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data2/

Thanks, I did read all those, and they've got me interested (as did the clip). Just like to have any other first-hand thoughts if I can get them.
'Bones, BTW, do you have any Wagner pickups? (Thanks for the link.) -- GM |

i just posted a couple of fillmore mp3's through retroman's "beano":
http://www.lespaulforum.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54323 and i will be posting some through a fulltone dp-1 & clean, through the "really nice compressor & dls fx chorus. the fillmores are phenomenal, & VERY versatile. i'm currently helping jim wagner design the "crossroads" set (got the proto's in my sg at the moment), and i can tell you that they are jaw-droppingly great! they're a replica of what clapton would have had in the "fool", his sg that he used to record crossroads & the rest of wheels of fire (he played the fool exclusively for about a year and a half). the fillmores are hot, BUT they are extremely expressive where overwound p'ups tend not to be. this has to do with the materials jim uses, & his potting process. btw, his "SR" set (single coils) are in a league of their own! THE most soulful set i've ever heard. good luck! ml |
