two of my faves!...I must admit, I have not kept up with the prodigous releases of Yo La Tango over the many years. I know they are all over the place, and I have generally really liked almost everything I've heard over the years...some reviews of the Chicago shows were excellent.

I just LOVE the fact that they'd book to tour with them such an greatly under appreciated band such as NZ greatest 80-90's alt. band, The Clean.

I own just about everything The Clean have ever done, and tho I have only been able to see them once, I still follow them with some level of obsession.

david kilgore IS a guitar hero!
(I wonder if Robert Scott (of the Bats!) is on this version of the Clean?)

the clean are nothing like big star...

they are, not coincidentally, somewhat similiar to yo la tango actually..or what yolatango have evolved into...they certainly influenced early yo la tango...however..

the clean are essentially an alt. guitar rock trio who establish a relatively simple hook, and work around that hook...then they rave it up along david kilgore's guitar playing till they get that wild frenzy of sonic nirvaNA GOIN THAT THE best garage bands strive for...they aren't as noisy/my bloody valentine as yo la tango, but use ALOT of Fender reverb and some delay like ira does...they have more in common with the Yardbirds without the lousy blues tributes those guys often fell prey to, better gear and...well, 40 years later..... Eek Eek

god I am old... Frown
