I meant contemporary brit films.

There are plenty of decent old ones.

Brit cinema is an embarrassment at the moment though.

It seems like all the reviews I saw were crazy-over-the-top good.

It's amusing, but I was underwhelmed.

Why is it that Brit films suck so? British TV is probably the best there is.

I think because Brit TV has a histroy of risk-taking that being state-owned has allowed.

In the past Brit TV has taken risks that stations funded by advertising would NEVER have taken and it has been proved that many people LIKE intelligent/challenging programs. Now we even have a comercial chanel (C4) that profitably makes left-field programs.

UK film doesn't have that kind've history; mainland European film-makers are the ones that took/take risks and make amazing films whereas Brit film-makers make endless rehashes of shit-fests like 'Four Weddings' and whatever those god-aweful gangster flicks are called.

Pathetic.

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was good.Mad

Then again you might be talking about that flood of gangster films that came after.

There was also a good telly movie a couple of years back made my bt BBC Scotland called "Split Second" (The Cyclist here for some reason) with Clive Owen. One of those films like Dead Man Walking that keep you thinking after the credits.

Don't know it I don't think,

Hollywood is making some good movies at the moment for a change; Life Aquatic, I Love Huckabees, The Woodman, Eternal Sunshine all were great movies IMO.

Watching 'The Machinist' tonight.
