???? the internal wires aren't even twisted as a noise reduction measure.

personally, I would like to just make a clone and put some SED audio tubes in it...

I could probably solder up a wonderful copy.

considering this is the ultimate amp for me, it doesn't impress me that much

Twisted wires = noise reduction?
I tend to think not. The insulation material would have more to do with that then anything else. I could be wrong but I don't think so. I just checked with our tech and he just laughed.

Doing so cancels the high frequency noise feilds. Don't trust that tech with anything expensive, he should know this

I'll be sure to bring that up at the next Ce conformaty testing meeting. All our products go thru extensive CE testing and then secondary CE testing by Intel. All pass with flying colors, and none have twisted wires. Why? Because we only use the best rated cabeling with certificates in many countries. He does very well. But if he ever builds an amp, I'll make sure he goes takes a wire twisting course. Big Grin

The skinny on the twisting of cables is that it helps cancel radio interfierence and that kind of noise...not noise caused by internal components and circuit design.

For instance, if you have speaker cable that isn't wired as a twisted pair the positive and negative cables act as a di-pole antena and they can pick up radio interference and hi-frequency noises from things like computer equipment.

All the high end Monster cable (instrument and speaker) is twisted internally to avoid these problems. This was a technique that was invented by Bell Telephone way, way back in the day to minimize crosstalk on phone lines.

I am surprised that your tech doesn't know this.

By the way...what kind of products does your company make?

almost bought a kjl amp, just cause I am insane.

everything seemed kinda cool, though course IO never heard one...kinda a big little point, huh?

so I ask this guy at HC in a PM what bhe thinks of his 2x12 kjl, and he says 'it's nice and all, but a VERY unique sounding amp that is it's own voice and...really, you should hear one of them before you buy it.'

he's right...it was a weak moment when I thought maybe if I got it, I could be cool like some of you guys...but then I realized that you all aint that cool, and that I am such a turd head to be thinking about things in that way...so silly and brain dead, but you know, I have my moments of just amazing insipidness and delusion, so heck...maybe I should maybe not drink so much caffeine in the morning?...Im skying right now...."Hey honey, want me to stack some firewood for you honey bunch?"

Hmmmm...I suspected as much.

Anyway...what do you need a Marshall for? You have two nice amps and some pretty cool pedals. For the style of music you like to play and for the kind of drummers I have heard you with, if you run both amps in stereo, you have more than power to keep up with all but the most punishing of drummers.

well, you are so right my friend.
I dunno why...prolly small ***** syndrome Frown

I have always loved a Marshall crunch, and while I can approximate it with my two amps and pedals, I cantr nail that crunch and the 'sear' of the lead tone....I think in my small tiny brain there's this notion that somehow I will sound better with one. yeah, it's bullocks...

but then, I thought I wanted a les Paul and it wasnt until I had a reasonable fascimilie that I knew I didnt really want one of those same as everybody guitars...same with a strat...same with a Marshall amp.

wanting doesnt have to make sense, it just is...but what I do with that 'want'..well, thank gosh I dont use credit cards!! Big Grin

Usually the only wires that get twisted are the AC(i.e. heater wires), and you can't even see them in those pics. The other wires you see are mostly signal wires and should be spaced away from each other, just like they are.

Nothing wrong with that amp at all. Very compact & clean board. I like it.

He may know it, but it doesn't come into play with the products we design for today's market. On the primary circuit, everything needs to be CE compliant and certified in order for it to be sold in Europe. So right from the power input we start off with a EMI/RFI, IEC 320 connector. Then if your EE has done his job in selecting the right components and we select the right cableing, there's no need for twisting of anything. Some of our products utilize a 10kv internal power source so we need to be sure we know what were doing. A lot of our products are sold to Japan (which is and has for the past couple of years tried to come up with thier own conformity plan), Thialand, China (just year they started their own program labeled CCC, which I think stands for CCee), Britain, Australia and a whole bunch of others. We design our own Lapping fixtures, Diamond wire saws, Dimpling instruments and Ion Beam Sputtering Devices. We design a lot of products with R&D from Labs all over the globe. I've been there about six years and it's cool. I like working with my hands and mind using drawing and parametric drawing programs like Solidworks and Autocad. But, right now, business is slow and things are getting tight. Hopefully everthing will turn out well cause I only drive 4 miles to work and get to have lunch with my wife and son everyday!!!!
