with the Yardbirds, then in '68 with Rod Stewart and Ron Wood..and the yarbirds stuff is fine, you know. they'd do the same exact set each show, in the same order - all the songs within seconds of each other - no improv at all...
I imagine such tours would be numbingly boring after a time, unless you are a dolt...course the ladies and all the drugs...so yeah, what a great tour!

but the stuff with JBG is wide open and improv city and well, I would say they are maybe drunk out of their gourds?...sounds great if you like 'guitar god' rock...you know, tongue wagglin' solos!
pretty in your face playing largely, and very bar bandy and sloppy...except when Beck kicks in and then it all straightens out some..he does the Beverly Hillbillies Theme in the middle of 'Jeff's Boogie'...damn funny. I can see Nigel up on stage leaning back into the wind and grinning like a twit!
Rod was such a great singer, frontman tho...he sounds like Marriott with more...disdain, and not the high range, course...
I think they are drunk largely.
