hmmm.... last book I read was "Demian" by Herman Hesse a couple months ago. I definitely recommend that. Gives a different view of the concept of God or gods, I suppose. Great story as well. Tons of others before that. I'm starting the anthology of Robert Frost and "The Stranger" by Albert Camus after that. You?

Sound sounds like a good book for the present time. Amazing how many people have died in the last 1000yrs over religion which to me is against everything its trying to represent..

good point chichi. That is the impetus of the "religious" aspect of the book. "Demian" talks about "Abraxas," (also a Santana album) a god possessing both good and evil qualities. Sort of takes the wind out of saying the devil is responsible, and who knows, possibly further scapegoatism.

You'll dig Journey to the East and Siddartha , both Hesse . Actually anything he wrote is pretty brilliant ... and very timely . Steppanwolf and Gertrude are both about musicians ( no cracks about John Kay or carpets ) .

I've read a lot of stuff about Old West History, like the Gunfight At The OK Corral & all of that stuff. I've also read Frankenstein.

I loved Steppenwolf. What a freaky book. What a solution - get out of your own brooding head and party. Meet a cool chick - there's actually magic in that simple idea. Come to think of it, more than a few songs have been generated by that thought!
Stay away from Camus if you're into good moods.
Speaking of Frankenstein, I just taught my class "The Monster Mash". Fun song. "Mash GOOOOD!"
