A good show, though in the balcony of the Warfield the bass was mush.
Struck me as annoying that people in the audience would yell "Wooooooo!" to such things as a trumpet or string part. It was like they had to find something to pretend was "rockin'" so they could yell.
The open band, Vetiver, was boring as hell. One dunbass in the band was dressed like a druid and walked around very deliberately in order to seem mysterious. He sounded like Gordon Gano on the backing vocals. I think they were on the bill to make B&S seem more exciting (not necessary).
Luckily they only played for 20 minutes or so.

Yeah...I had an opportunity to go but I passed on it. I really like their music but I can't stand their fans. Kinda like Radiohead. I won't go see them live for the same reason...mega C-U-N-T fest.

Were they like trumpet or string solos, or just random parts of songs?

Solos yes, but not improvised. More like instrumental lead parts.
