Those Reeves amps are the same amps being made currently by Hiwatt UK...they have to put the Reeves logo on them to sell them in the US because Fernandes owns the exclusive rights to sell products with the Hiwatt name on them in the US.
I have one that was ordered before Fernandes started making a stink about Hiwatt UK selling their products to people who ordered them online.
The Reeves/Hiwatt UK amps are the same exact circuit and military spec point to point wiring as the original.
I can tell you (and Oakland should be able to tell you since he has heard my Hiwatt in person at ABLJL practice) that my amp sounds nothing like that.
I use a Klon with mine and a Captain Coconut 2 for overdrive and fuzz and it sounds great. My guess is that it was recorded poorly and the guy who set the amp up probably doesn't play a lot of rock. However...you should keep in mind...a Hiwatt is not a Fender...it's going to be a lot brighter and have a more immediate response. Personally I like running a Hiwatt in stereo with a Fender amp. The sound is HUGE and the two amps compliment each other nicely.
Anyway, the Reeves/Hiwatt UK amps are awesome...and they are the real deal...unlike those Chinese made Fernandes Hiwatts.

they cost enough - maybe Pete Topwnsend can come by and suck on my ballsack when they deliver it
Townsend is using the 3x10 Fender Vibro King combos with 2x12 Fender extension cabs these days. The Vibro King is a great sounding amp...expensive (it's point to point wired) but it sounds awesome. I played a used one at Guitar Center once...if I had $2000 I would have bought it.

If you are going to use Oakland as a corraborator, you prolly have lost the argument by default. The guy still insists that JCM800 preamp distortion RULES over JCM2000 power tube distortion!

well..hiwatts are kind of sterile sounding (to me), and after 30 years, he probably wanted a real GOOD clean. I hear the V-K Fenders are just 'precious'
course, my ears couldn't hear the diff! I have the tonal acquity of a earthworm

why the move back to strats? he swtiched to the gibbys because the fenders were sounding far too bright
I cant figure people likin strats, so I cant, from a user standpoint, appreciate goin' to a strat for anyone
I agree with you JD that SG's are horribly overpriced..
btw, my wifey gave me the okay (FUCK YOU nad youy snickerin'! just wait till youre married, you'll stop fucking laughing dickweeds ) on buying another guitar. I said I'd sell some stuff to offset it. I already know what I want -- but I cant begin to decide what to sell?

I do too, I think the mud was intentional, to sound more like the old blues records you know?
but the sound of 2's songs being plasyed live were always my favorites
