Many of my students fail to value the importance of open strings. I am glad that you have learned that these are extremely important, and recall that when you begin working in more complex scales and modes that they play an important and key role. Maybe you are ready for some chords? I like to start my students off in the open chords and hold off on barre chords till they are comfortable. I think sometimes in the rush of get "there", new students often forget the merits of open chords once barre chords are introduced. I wish you well friend. peace bro
