innaresting...funny, the more human a construct becomes, the less you know of him...

I think that is funny. Smile

...the humanization of a construct, a media image...and yet, I know him less than I thought I did before... Cool

It is a book I would not want to read in just a few sittings. Much like his music, an album here an album there...but you dont wanna hear 35 hours of Neil....even good Neil.

the writing is fine, brisk and moves rather well. The historical contexts are exceptional, esp. for someone like me who came from that era, sorta...It was like reading between the liner notes to all my fave albums and stars...that NY has worked with SO many fellow coots is innaresting, and revealing.

the book doesnt diss very many at all, and that is stated at the outset. It's not a trash book. And it's not a musicians book, you know, talking tech stuff at all. It is a character study. Neil is shown with his many flaws and cowardice acts, while others are allowed to slide somewhat. I am sure this was a Neil thing. It fits him. There are like 3 people who get slammed in the book, and they are actually people NY deeply loves...but generally, the book has been a tale of the WHYs & HOWs someone might maintain...'the edge'..to manage the 'peaks' and 'long valleys'...lost of sadness in the book, some death...Briggs is...like a kindred spirit to so many of us I think (mayhe not me, but you guys who get up on a stage and put your hearts on the line..the 'brave' ones)..only he really lived it, and died it...I think the passing of David Briggs is the saddest thing Ive read in a while.
He was always just a name on a Neil Young record to me... I dunno... Cool
