changed my life. . . really.

So my friend calls me up and says he wants to hang out for a while. I

say yeah sounds good I really feel like getting a few beers down

tonight. So I go to his house after dinner and we talk for a while then

head to the bar. In total I drank 6 beers. In total he drank about 3

rum and cokes. (how much BEFORE being the question) So we leave the bar

head down the road and he says "what road are we on?" . . . well I

don't know because I am not from around there. . .but hes lost so we

turn around. . .a few minutes later we are going around a turn and BAM!

smack into a tree. . .I saw it coming about a second before . . .but

it was too late for the car, me, and my friend. After the impact I

turned and looked at the drivers side. . .nobody there. I looked again

nobody there! I tried to open my door but it wouldnt budge. . .tried

again no luck. I knew my friend had to be laying on the ground in front

of the truck. I was hoping to god he wasnt dead. I stuck my legs out the

window and lowered myself onto the ground. I walked out and there he was

lying in the fetal position on the ground. I shook him and he woke up

BIG fucking relief. So I get him standing and I lean him against the

car. There is a guy hitchhiking that we had seen a few minutes before

and I ended up walking with him to his house . . .there wasnt much I

could do with my friend. . .he was not able to understand anything I

said . . .so we called a cab and the police from the guys house and

the ambulances came. . .I walked through the police, through the

amulances, and through the fire engines. I walked past all of them and

found a ride with a black guy and girl who saw me in the neighborhood

and thought I looked out of place. (being white) so they drove me to my

truck a few miles away. and I gave the guy and girl a six pack of beer

(ironically) and I plan to give them a 100 bucks for easter for doing

me a great favor. So now I am sitting here with a red mark accross my

chest from the seatbelt that saved my life, my friend I guess is still

in the hospital, and now I am thinkng about all the other times I have

drank/drugged and drove. I've got nothing else to say.

Fuck man, I'm glad you're OK and wish the best for your friend.

Im prettysore today. I have been as close to getting myself killed as

you can get. This isnt even the first time I have almost died. It was

damn scary. I don't even know how my friend is. . .I think he will be

OK his left eye was just swollen and bloody but he could stand sort of

but he didnt even know what happened. I just had to leave him and call

for help. . .there wasnt anything I could do for him really. If there

was a way to keep him from getting arrested or whatever. . .I would

have done it. As it were I just wormed my way out of a awful situation.

I feel like I was just thinking of myself. . .but there really was

nothing I could have done. . .he needed medical assistance.

The important thing: One dont be a dumbass like me. Two wear your

seatbelts! It saved my life. I feel guilty that I have gotten so many

second chances. . .some people dont get any. All I got was rugburn from

the armrest, a sore chest, and a bump on my head. My friends truck had

an airbag but he wasnt wearing his seatbelt and he flew through the

windshield. I cant believe I didnt hardly get a scratch! Lucky or

blessed or however you want to look at it. Im just glad I could be here

to celebrate my mom's birthday which is today. I don't know if this

miracle was for her or me. I'm just happy to be alive. I wont be

pressing my luck any more. The sraight life may be boring but at least

you still have your eyes. thanks for all your kind words. . .I dont

deserve them. . .I dont deserve anyones sympathy. Thank you though.

I just got up with my friend

he said he had to get his ear sewn back on

and his eye was swollen up like a grapefruit

other than that he is alive and well.

That's really terrible news. I'm glad you're doing ok. I hope to hell your friend doesn't lose hearing in that ear.
