the clean is precious, the 6v6...but when I push my DR into the scooby-poo, it kinda sounds...sometimes....a little flabby and even fartatious to me...which for wet ass blood fart tone is most good...but taken independent of WABF tone's greatness, I am thinking there are better distortions out there...I am meaning when the amp is overdriven, at like 7-8-9-13 vol...if I keep the amp at its sweet spot, it sounds damn good...but if I really push it, it's get flabby/fartatious, then mush if I go to the ShaggyFrown...

these are the things I think of as I watch Scooby DoBig Grin...scroobby rooBig Grin...rut-row, ampy frabbyFrown

If you had a good overdrive you wouldn't have this problem. Smile

If you want, you can try my Keeley Blues Driver with your amp. I used it with Saline's DR when Taikonaut played their first show and I got really good results. Definitely not as farty as a TS-9 clone, FD-2 or similar pedal.

Also...it helps to have an aggressive, upper-mid heavy pickup.

Anyway, you should be able to get a cranking distortion out of a DR if you know what you're doing. Smile

Oaklandana,

The DR has a lot of bass that can get farty when you turn it up enough to overdrive. I find it sounds great as long as the bass is set to 3 or lower. Have you tried this?

Lower frequencies are often a problem with overdrive tones on amps such as these (not the same with a Marshall). I believe this is why most overdrive pedals (the Tubescreamer being the most obvious) cut some of the bass out.
