It's like a soap opera - it can suck you in if you give it enough time, but is this thing really relevant anymore, or necessary?
Who cares about half these events? I guess I'm thinking that snowboarding legitimatizes the Olympics, not the other way around. Congratulations, snowboarding, you've been co-opted.
I also wish it wouldn't be held in America. Let it make some other country's day - it means so much more to them when they win a medal anyway. For us it's a security nightmare and basic pain in the *ss.
I don't hate the Olympics or anything, I'm just personally not excited about them anymore. Maybe it's really something more for kids and for those who have kids of their own.

I agree, and what the hell is the deal with those extravagant medal ceremonies? I saw one on Sunday and it was like a Broadway production. Plus the commentators need to take a sedative, they get so excited it's annoying!

It will never be the same as in the 70s etc. when it was US against them meaning the Russians. Now its just more like Coke against IBM....plus they just show figure skating in prime time which is the worst but it is the biggest ratings grabber.
I haven't watched the last few Olympics but am kinda enjoying this Olympics. I thought the opening ceremony was really good. But, there are definately some things that need to be changed or improved, starting with the crooks who run the governing body. I wish they would eliminate the pro athletes too.
yeah, it just messes up the TV schedule for a few weeks------ but its the only chance a lot of these sports and atheletes have to get a big audience---- what is a professional athelete??? State sponsered,,,commercial team????
