I tried a few Mesa amps yesterday...they were all kinda flat sounding. They weren't the worst amps I have heard, but definitely not for me.

I'm getting a Fender Twin reissue and run it in stereo with my JCM-800 2x12 combo. With the money I get from selling my Marshall JCM-2000 I am going to buy a second JCM-800 2x12 combo and get my Twin set up with a Hoffman point to point wired board...with enough money left over to get some new PA speakers.

I bid on a marshall last night on ebay...I lost.
I also contacted a guy in Texas the previous night..who listed a marshall I very much wanted, and he had an 'only pick up - no shipping' note on it...so I emails him, you know, askin' maybe he could ship it to Cali?...so he emails me back in the morning, and he says, "sure, I can ship to Cali"...so I go to BIN - and it's already been bought.wtf?

I am cursed.

I have my eye on one on e-Bay right now that I am going to get.

I wish I could find someone around here who could switch my EL34's to 6L6's in my JCM 800.From what I hear it's not hard to do.Just a resister and bias...

Wilde - It depends on what the power supply voltage is. 6L6's can take 350v max I believe, EL34's can go to 500v. So if it's higher than 350 you can't do it without modifying the power supply, which = lot's of bench time in the amp shop, which = $$$$$$.

As for single rectos, I kinda like them. They are a little bottom heavy for my tastes, but I think they are a bad ass amp anyway.

Mesas have alot of knobs, like riveras...

I fear more than 10 knobs on an amp....
