there's a section where adam jones apparently uses a flange to mimic a sitar.

can flanges be set to cut out all the lows, with minimum sweeping?

there are a lot of them, aren't there?

[Big Grin] [Razz]

um...well, i'm thinking of the "live" version off of SALIVAL. not sure exactly when it's in, but i know that the band cuts out, and it's just adam playing. it's probably in the AENIMA version, too.

if i remember correctly, it's right before the final guitar solo, before the final "PRYING OPEN MY THIRD EYE!!!..."

Yeah, there are definately a lot of them! I just wanted to make sure I was listening to the right part.

I just threw it in and took a listen. I have a Poly Chorus, and I know that I can widen or tighten the sweep range, but I haven't been able to get That sound...yet.

I believe (though cannot confirm) that Adam is using a Boss Flanger. I just took a look at a pic of the knobs (Manual, Depth, Rate, Resonance), and I would think that either the depth or Resonance would do it, but don't quote me on that [Wink]

You should go try one out. Adam is one of my favorite guitarists ever, he's insane.

after a bit of research, i found out that adam uses an ibanez flanger (and delay), and some boss pedals (i think an EQ pedal, and something else...).

i'd imagine that the depth would be able to dial in that sound...

Are you definately sure he's using Ibanez stuff? I certainly don't doubt you, I'm just interested in how credible the source is. Where did you find that? and do you know which flanger he uses?

I've been able to do real well with a DD-5 and would never replace it, but, I don't think that my flanger is good in general. He gets some sick-ass sounds with that flanger and while I'm sure I could get it with most, may as well stay true to the source.

go to toolshed.down.net

click on the section that says "artic[les]" on top.

click on 2001.

it's the july guitar player. "[lots of technical guitar talk]"

he doesn't say which flange it is! [Frown] [Mad]

and i could swear he also uses a chorus, but he makes no mention of it.

Yea I actually came across that info on Tooltabs.net (or .com). I think he either sets the flange to a more subtle "chorus-like" setting or he uses a chorus of some sort. I definately thought he used one as well...I think towards the end of Aenema (I'm praying for rain...), and in 46&2, it definately sounds like chorus...

Who knows, maybe he doesn't consider it important enough to mention or maybe it's TOO important
...hmmm

hrmm...don't ya think that changing the settings of that pedal for nearly every song would get tedious (for the techs, that is)?

it's too bad that ibanez has so many series of effects. finding "the one" is like finding a certain needle in a stack of needles.
