Whoever the guitar player in that band is a pretty solid player, but the tone on "Heaven" is great. It sounds like a start, a little bit of overdrive and I am not sure from there.
Last time I saw those guys (last year during SXSW here in Austin) it was pretty much the SRV thing, with BF Fenders (a TWIN or two i think) and sounded like a Tubescreamer type pedal. I didn't see his pedals though, but it sure sounds like that sound so many folks use around here. No telling in the studio, but I would bet he didn't vary that much from his live rig. They're getting a lot more press these days, so maybe his gear is evolving more so. They're are real nice guys and sound real good live. Not much gear help, I know..... but I think a lot is in the hands with this type of sound. The guy can rip on an acoustic just the same.
Cody… I was thinking fender strat and a twin or super reverb. I just thought that he had a good clean/mild od tone on that song, so I thought I would see if anyone knew what he was doing…
I know he uses MIM Strats into a Marshall JCM2000DSL with a Bogner cab. For effects he uses a TS-9 and a Vox wah. This is what I have seen him play live, in the studio it could have been Fender.
Bluesdude, Does your live LLBOYS DVD make popin sounds once in a while? I returned it and the new one does it also, unless she gave me back the same one cause she opened the new one. Thanks. All three are great players!

“I’ve never been into gear,” says Garza. “My dad taught me to plug in and play, and deal with what you have.”
Currently, Garza is dealing with a Fender Strat strung with a hefty set of D’Addario .012s. “When I began playing, I actually used .008s,” he says. “But I worked my way up through .009s, .010s, and .011s, like a weightlifter training his body.”
To round out his rig, Garza plugs into an Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer, a Vox wah, finally ending at a Marshall JCM2000 plugged into a Celestion-loaded Bogner 2x12 and a Fender Twin Reverb reissue."
I've read in mulitple places that it's a MIM Strat with stock pups. How he gets that tone is beyond me.
