I am trying to play the Baba O'Riley riff (the Pearl jam version...available from iTunes), and I can't go fast enough so I'm wondering if he is using a delay or if he's not, if I could use one to replicate what he's doing? Thanks!

mcCready might dial in a slight slapback for that, but for the most part you can hear hes just playing as tight as possible. as good as it is, it never approaches perfection. you can always hear him miss a note or two.
i think if you fool around long enough with a delay unit you could find a new, more original way of doing it, tho PJ is surely just trying to keep it rockin', not reinvent the wheel. |

It's not a delay.
It is a noise gate being triggered to open by a pulse from a hi-hat or something similar |
