For most of the earlier stuff he used a Les Paul into a 60's Marshall super bass with both the bass and high channels wired to together. Recently he has been using that in addition to Diezel amps and the occasional Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier. But, for most of the recordings, I think it was the Super Bass.

How does he get the distortion tone? is it directly thru the amp or pedal? Does he use any pedal? Thanks.

from what I know, it's just cranked. I have a plexi from that era myself; there's really nothing like it cranked. Nothing has balls like that..... If you have experience with plexis, you'd be able to tell that's what it is. It has a certain brashness that is somehow smooth. It's a cleaner distortion, and therefore it isn't as compressed as cascading pre-amp designs.

yeah, I like them. They aren't my favorite band, but they are pretty good. They are more of a curiousity of mine.

I just read an interview and I believe he uses the silverburst Les Paul Customs that were made from '79 to '81 through 3 amps. I think a Triple Retifier, Marshall, and a Diezel amp. He also uses an Ibanez delay, Ibanez Flanger, Boss EQ and a Crybaby 535Q wah pedal. I like the way he subtly uses the wah, too. Like he says, "Not in an obvious 70's porno way."

didnt hear too much of wah pedal in album. wonder where he use it......i like his way of guitar arrangement and his usage of muted tone in the songs. sound cool to me.
