Does anyone know what effect and setting are used on Cold Shot by SRV. I own a sweetsound ultra vibe which I heard gets the effect but I can't seem to get anything close. I also ordered a DLS Roto-Sim because I know he used to use a Fender Vibratone. I'm really trying to get that swirly sound and any help would be appreciated.

A buddy of mine has a Motion Sound mini-leslie like effect. It actually has a small rotating speaker in it. Incredible sound. Very 3D, lush chorusing type of effect.

DLS Roto-Sim should get you pretty close. I use my old Boss CE-1 for the fake lesle stuff.

i have a dunlop univibe on its way from the factory and i know first hand it will do what i need it to do, but well for just take a stereo chorus and slow it sown, and dont put a large amount of depth on it, thats just a way around it tho, a univibe is the best way you can go, also mjm makes an exact replica of the univox(that stevie ray used) its probally even better than the dunlop. i think more expensive tho.

For the Cold Shot swirly sounds, I used to use a phase and chorus pedal together. I think I had one before the drive and one after. I've heard some versions of that song, however, where SRV sounds like all he's using is a fast vibrato. So maybe the vibrato setting on the Mojo would work for that sound.

If you want to truly nail the sound of SRV on Cold Shot use a Fender Vibratone. That's what Stevie used on that track. It's a guitar leslie. Here's how it works. It's a speaker cab with just one 10" speaker that needs to be fed by an amp, preferably a Fender. Around it is a styrofoam drum which revolves around the speaker. You can use slow speed (chorus) or fast speed (leslie) thru the use of a footswitch. SRV uses the slow speed in the next track on the same album, Tin Pan Alley.

Thanks for all of you inputs. I'm awaiting one of the new roto pedals from line six that actually models the vibratone and two other leslie cabinets. The sound samples sound cool and hopefully this will do what I need it to. A leslie to me sounds really cool but it is not a neccesary item for me, more of a toy.

The only thing that sounds like a Leslie...is a Leslie.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Thanks for everyone's input. I have a songworks rotary wave on the way to go with my vibro king. The rotary wave is an actual leslie speaker that is based on the vibratone. They are pretty cool and if anyone is interested check out songworks.com for info. They are lightweight and fairly reasonably priced.
