I'm mostly a lurker around here, but I figured this would be a good group to ask this question.

Anybody know what Kossoff was using on the Free recordings? Is it just an LP into a cranked up plexi or is there a pedal involved? His tone on those recordings is outstanding, and I've always wondered how he achieved it.

thanks

From what I recall of the period He used a Marshall bass head cranked and a LP although He used a wood finish Strat occasionally, I don't remember him using any pedals live at all although he may have done.

Sounds like strait Les Paul with ether the tone rolled off a little in the bridge for that clapton tone or neck pick up.
