Sure JB uses effects on his studio recordings, but the three times I've seen him live he has had nothing but a guitar (Strat or Tele)>wah>amp, with some delay added at the board. Yes his amps are probably modded, but as AFAIK all his distortion comes from the amp. All of the funky effects stuff is handled by his rhythm guitarist Jennifer Batten.

But my point was, I've got a board full of effects and I can't begin to coax the number of sounds out of my rig that Jeff can get with just guitar > amp. If you can, I'd like to hear it.

My point was not that people who use pedals suck (Where did I say that? Don't get so defensive.) It is that Jeff Beck has a greater command of his instrument and more imagination with sounds than any other guitarist I've heard.

So funky I can smell it!
