on the no quater album/dvd it shows him with an ovation...if there is a classic version i have not heard it for some reason and dont know if he was using electric or not, not exactly sure how he runs his acoustic guitars either...

Footage from the Knebworth concert in '79 shows Jimmy playing his Les Paul, can't tell you what effects, but sounds like alot of flanger.
I also read somewhere thats its double tracked in two octaves, so an octave pedal could be useful.

I can get really close with my Univibe pedal, but I do believe it is a phaser.

I've heard that Page used a Phase 45 at times, and I can attest that my Phase 45 gets that sound pretty damn close.

That's definitely a phaser and some pics from Knebworth show a Maestro Phaser on the floor. On Presence, he most likely used a MXR Phaser.

Also, it sounds double tracked, with perhaps a hint of delay.

He used an Arp Avatar quite a bit on that album.
