Does anyone know what was used to get the fuzzy guitar sound on Sabotage by the Beastie Boys? (Do you know what sound I'm talking about?)

Are you talking about the bass or the guitar? Because the guitar is nothing special, probably just a big muff or something, but the bass is the real unique sound, I think. He probably took a sweet transy bass amp (cheap ones with crappy speakers won't work) and just cranked it.
