I remember reading an article that said he's a fuzzbox junkie, but he really prefered BigMuffs and old Rats for distortion but he uses lots of flangers,phasers and delays!

I don't know about swervedriver exactly, but Kevin Shields used to use ADA MP-1 preamps (of all things! ) into Marshall JCM900 heads. Pedal-wise, I think he used a bunch of BOSS stuff - nothing that seemed hard to find (yet the specifics elude me).

To me it seems like a great deal of the Swervedriver sound comes from guitar layering in the studio. If you listen to any of their songs with headphones on, it sounds like there's tons of guitar all over the place. Sometimes a guitar will just be playing feedback behind another guitar that's playing a chord progression (as in portions of "Son of Jaguar E"). Seems like it would be hard to get the same textures with just one guitar.
