Those of you who play this tune, what’s the scoop on playing it?

Some say standard tuning works fine, others say retune to some type of D tuning.

What type of D tuning should be used? Just drop the low E to D or something more involved?

I always played it in standard tuning. No need to drop D because you have to grab the F5-G5 slide on the bottom strings, a lotta fuzz helps.

I always play it too fast. fun to play.

Ive done it in drop d, and I didnt like it as much as in standard. but if you have 2 guitars, maybe one of each to better keep the drone alive

Neil may have used 'd-modal' tuning...try dropping both E to D. YMMV.

You've got to be wearing big bell bottons and a tie-dye shirt to really get this one right.

try both big and little E tuned down to D, that's the way the ol grizz wrote it...
