ANyone know what this guy uses for OD tones? How about tremolo? I can't find any info online about Ribot's setup, and he's probably my favorite guitarist at the moment.

I've seen him a lot live recently. He tends to use a Gibson ES semi, or a telecaster, or some kind of wierd off-brand guitar.

Amps are usually Fenders, Deluxe or Vibrolux, which is also where the tremeolo comes from.

He uses a bunch of OD pedals, usually a couple in the . Favourites seem to be the RAT, the Danelectro Pastrami mini-pedal, Tech 21 Double Drive, or the DOD Buzzbox.

A Double Drive sound get you close.

I Love Ribot's style/styles. It seems that he plays such a wide variety of stuff though. What material was he playing when you saw him, dnljns? Was it for the Cubanos Postizos ? I ahven't checked out the Albert Ayler inspired stuff he's doing right now, but that sounds really interesting too.
The Telecaster on his website looks like it has the ESP brand on the headstock. Also, the first Cubanos Postizos album shows him with some sort of Gibson single-cutaway hollowbody...w/P-90s if my memory serves me.

He's been doing some trios, kind of a noise funk thing. He seems to have a new favourite guitar as well, some kind of funky Harmony Stratotone 50s thing.

ESP was a Tele with a whammy bar, used on the Waits album I belive. Gibson is an ES-125 (??)

Awesome, thanks for info. I've been using a Keeley RAT for my Ribot tones, I figured he used one of those. Seem to be popular w/ the NY cats like Frisell, Scofield, etc. Great pedal, wide range of tones. ANyone know if he uses a delay or tremolo pedal?

tremeolo from the amp.

Mixture of delay pedals, depending on gig: EH Deluxe Memory Man, DL4, Dan PB&J Mini Delay

Also sometimes: Wah Pedal, Mu-Tron III, Moog Ring Mod, Line 6 Modulation Modeller, EB Volume Pedal.

Any albums/projects you know of where he uses the Mooger? I recently got one of those and I"m trying to figure out how to use it. There are so many sounds in there it is almost intimidating! I've seen Medeski use it for mainly noise/freak out stuff. It'd be nice to find some Ribot sounds to point me in the right direction. Thanks for your info man, I've looked everywhere and could find no info on Ribot's setup. I'm in Florida and I've never had a chance to see him live, but definately one of my favorite players.
