Great band... I have gotten very close to some of the Posies' rhythm tones in "Frosting on the Beater" by going through a modded DS-1 with my guitar volume rolled back a bit.

One tone I'd love to get is the solo tone at the 1:22 mark of the song "Definite Door". That thing is sick! Anybody geeky enough to even blow the dust off of this record and see what I mean?

That's too funny. The Posies are coming through town and I borrowed "Beater" from our singer to get some background (never heard them previously) and was just listening to that tune. It has a little bit of a Foo Fighters feel to it (vice versa actually). It's definitely a dark and thick lead sound earlier, mebbe Mosferatu-esque. At 3:31 it's got a cool rhythm sound.

He also let me borrow "Dear 23", but I haven't given it a listen yet.

Sorry to derail, but thought it was a funny coincidence.

I can't find my cassette. My wife must have "misplaced" it! Wink

I loved the phrasing of that lead guitarist, as I remember.

yeah, definitely a darker tone there... i'm curious about what type of guitar and amp he was using as his base tone. knowing that would make it a bit easier to determine what he added for the lead.

i think for a good deal of their rhythm sounds, they had some kind of flange/chorus/vibe slightly mixed in. you can kind of hear the last chord warbling and pulsing gently as it rings out.

He uses, primarily, an SG thru all kinds of rigs.
