i have a transcription of metallica's master of puppets from guitar legends. it says it is in standard tuning but when i tuned my guitar in standard tuning with my korg ga-20 tuner, the guitar was not in the same tuning with the song. the song was like onehalf step higher or even another 1/4 higher (sounds like it).i'm sure my tuner is working because i tried to play along incubus's pardon me intro which is: C#,A,C#,A,E (root only)which fits perfectly in tune with my guitar (in standard tuning)...
does it have something to do with the standard pitch? (A=440) was the standard pitch when metallica recorded master puppets a bit higher than A=440? another song was steve vai's blowfish, it said in the transcription that it is in standard tuning but it was higher in pitch compared to my guitar's tuning tuned with the korg ga-20... |

Hello-
What media are you using to compare the tuning? A cassette? A CD? Maybe your player is playing the music faster than is should. Just a guess. Good luck. ~John II |

I believe what they're referring to is that the guitar is to be tuned the standard way to play these songs.
You're referring to pitch. That could easily vary depending on the equipment you're using for playback. Mesadude |

yes, i've checked the cassette player and it plays the tape faster than normal which of course raises the pitch of the songs... thanks for the replies...
