In my case teh first time I was going WTF how does one do this... was listening to the intro of the VH album Fair Warning...

Now I know how to play it and even play with it... but the first time I heard it, it was definetely a WTF?

There's a vocal lick at the end of Prince's "When Doves Cry" that I swore was a guitar for about 15 years!

I know what your talkin about. Cool stuff huh? My fav WTF would be just about all the licks on Jr. Brown's "Sugarfoot Rag". He pulls off some wild Hendrix licks in a blugrass song on his guit-steel. Wicked!

For me it is still the very first lick in Scuttlebuttin' by SRV. Ridiculous.

on john lee hooker's "the healer", carlos santana plays a ton of great, understated bluesy stuff with his PRS and Mesa Boogie rig with a l'il wah for tone shaping... it's all good, smooth as silk, it's easy stuff....

and then, heading towards the end of the song, right after john lee yelps "the healer!", carlos lets fly one of the nastiest licks i have ever heard, sounds like that acid-alien blood from the Alien movies dripped onto the tape. it's a descending run, pretty much a pentatonic... if you slowed it down you could get the notes, but you'd never get the tone, speed, and animal power with which it just jumps off the track.... i'm still goin WTF!!!?!?!

also, pretty much anything that 8 string jazzer Charlie Hunter does.. go see him live and prepare to wanna quit the guitar... WTF!?!@#@!!??
