Great sound, and Great album =>

Hollow body Gibsons / Epiphones (p-90 casino I belive, could be a 335 though) -> Shin-E Fuzz Wah -> Twin reverb.

For that fuzz tone the Boss FZ-2 will get you basically spot on. The Ocatane III is susposed to be more or less a clone of that I haven't had much luck with that sound, but have nailed other superfuzz tones. You can try any superfuzz clone as they are all more or less varients on the same circut design..

When I saw them play live in 1985 in support of that album, william was playing guitar though a fender amp - sorry I don't know which one and the douglas was playing bass through a peavey amp - sorry don't know which one. In interviews they always mention a Shin-E Fuzz. I've gotten similar sounds using a Vintage FX Fuzz Riot pedal for the low single note buzz riffs and a Z-Vex Machine into a Frantone Creme Puff for all-out noise feedback mayhem.
