Who has got a clue as to what kind of device Jimi used on War Heros to get the super fat wide-sweeping flanging used on songs like Isabella and a couple others...... a few folks say it is a effect produced by running two tracks of the same tape unit (like Teac 3340S 4-8 track analog recoder)with the same riff but one track/channel being slightly out of phase from the other......... i have two of these Teac 3340S units and have not found a similar effect after considerable experimentation. I am convinced that the fat flanging is actually created by an older style stand alone analog flanger or biphaser unit, like a Mutron or something???????? that studio sound is rarely heard on any other album and none on any live recording/performance I have ever heard. It is certainly not created by the UVibe or other commonly known Jimi devices... Any takers on this one???????????????????????????????????

thanks,

dutch
